Dodonpa

Speaking of Dadonpa in the XLC thread..has anybody ridden this thing? I know its the fastest accelerating coaster on the planet ( 0 -107mph in 1.8 seconds) , but is it laid out like XLC? Is the vertical tower higher?

Also off the subject, but what is the RockNRoller coaster like...i know is a Vekoma launched coaster, but is it smooth? How many inversions does it have and what are they? thanks guys :)

The vertical tower is not immediately after the launch. This makes it shorter i believe, but it is much better than Hypersonic (and has not been plauged with delays).
I would hope the tower on Dondopa is taller, the coaster is faster. Otherwise people would die from G forces. About the Rock 'N Roller Coaster... No idea, your best bet is rcdb.com for the statistics...

Planned parks: Astroland, Knoebel's, Hersheypark, SFNE, SFGadv,SFGam,CP,PKI,PKD,PCW,HW,Indiana Beach,SFWOA,SFKK,SFDL,SFSTL,Lakemont,DelGrosso's... Need I say more?

Three of my pictures of Dodonpa are here http://www.coastergallery.com/japant/FH.html

It is a custom layout and the tower is slightly shorter than XLC.

Dodonpa hits a long stretch of track followed by an incredible humongous banked turn then followed by a 170' hill.

Superman the ride at Sixflags Holland is a non-enclosed clone of the rockn' rollercoaster, so if you want to see the layout just look that one up at rcdb. It features a sea-serpent and a corkscrew. I never rode the rockn' rollercoaster, but i can say that Superman was a pretty bumpy ride when i went to SFH two weeks ago. But it's a Vekoma ofcourse, so...

This season:

15 rides

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster differs from Superman. The layout is a launch, vertical loop, turns, corkscrew, more turns, corkscrew. I know that rcdb lists Superman as a Rock n Roller Coaster type, but it really isn;t. When I rode the ride a year ago, it was very smooth and fun. Definitely the most thrilling ride at Disney.

RnRC and Superman (SFH) are most definitely the same rides layout-wise. The first inversion on RnRC is *not* a vertical loop.

Thank you for taking my doubt away. I allready couldn't figure out why SFH would buy a custom designed Vekoma product in a four packadge deal. The layout of the superman ride wouldn't make sence either, being so compact in an open area.

I went on rock'n'rollercoaster and the layout is launch, which IMHO is a lot more powerful than V2's launch, then it is a sea serpant, turns, turns, turns, corckscrew, turn, little bunny hop into the brakes, a fun ride but a little to short.

Judges? EEEEEEEE! WRONG!

Please, do some reasearch and ride the ride a few more times before making a comment like that. The first inversion is a Sea Serpent, the second is a corkscrew. the rest is a bunch of tists and turns. Superman at SFH is the exact same thing. So is RnRC at Disney Studios Paris.

Dodonpa looks so cool. I really want to hear from someone that has been on it.

84 coasters in Track Record!! Hypersonic XLC # 100 in July. Waiting for the 305 foot drop tower in 2003. Thank you PKD.

0 to 107 mph. in 1.8 seconds? What are the rider requirements? That is "burst a blood vessel" fast! (i'd still ride it though)

B&M Lover: at that park, as with many in Japan, many of their coasters have age limits.

SFgadvman: Myself, PT300, and Nasai have all been there but none of us got to ride it :(

So none of use Japan Riders have done Dodonpa? Sorry, but I missed Dodonpa too, Fujiyama was awsome though.

That makes 4 of us, Vertigo :( I forget if I asked before or not, Vertigo, did you do their hospital or missle silo attractions?

Dadonpa's tower is 5 feet taller than Hypersons XLC at 170 feet. The layout is completely different.

-----------------
Fear The two Apollo’s Chariot,which boasts nine drops,totaling 825-feet!and Alpengeist,the world’s tallest at(195-feet!),fastest at(67 mph!)and most twisted inverted roller coaster.

I would like to hear from someone who has been on it too. I will be going on a foriegn exchange program to Japan for most of next year and hope to make it to many parks there. Fujikyu is definatly on my list. ALong with many others, and hopefully will get to exspierence many of these coasters.

Soon, Peabody, soon. Actually, I don't know when I will get back to Japan, but Fujikyu will definitely be on my list. Lewis said he saw Dodonpa going, but when he got into the park, they closed the ride. All that way, and no riding? Argh! He did get a sweet ride on Fujiyama, though.:)

What's with the baby???

Hey Phaethon,

Alpengeist isnt the fastest inverted coaster, it's Volcano the Blast Coaster, with a top speed of 70mph :)

NOBODY has been on Dadonpa??????? Where are all of our Japanese coaster enthusiasts??
