Do racers count as 2?

Since CP marketing doesn't try to pull a fast one, I'll go with one ride, as they count it.

Then what about the PKI Racer controversy of a few years ago when they claimed it(singular) as two?? :)

Actually, I think I got it...

If a coaster has the same name... it counts as one (ie: Superman: Ultimate Escape, Gemini, Colossus) coaster.

However, if a deuling/racing coaster has two different names for the coasters in question, (ie. Deuling Dragons: Fire & Ice) it counts as two coasters.

It may still be debatable, but I think this is how it works out and makes sense. A deuling/racing coaster with only one single name for both coasters would only count as one coaster... but a coaster with a different name for each track layout would count as two different coasters!!

Simple, eh?
How about if there not the same.Like going in a different direction or more inversions then the other?
i think that if a coaster utilizes the same structure, than it is the same coaster...ie gemini...colassus...lightning racer....gwazzi.
The Cont is in...
I just went to www.rcdb.com and it is only as one coaster all the facts are the same.

Hot Hitz,
Lighting Racer and Gwazi have two independent lift hill structures, if thats what you mean then you would be incorrect.

I know what you mean in the case of Gemini and Colosssus, as in they share a single lift structure.

Well, as for whether or not they use the same queue, what about other rides (non-coaster) that use the same trick - Power Tower, for instance? Same entrance, and the same start of the queue, but definately two different rides. Granted, most of the queue is different. Just thought that there were other types of rides to be considered. :)

I'm not exactly sure what the "Cont" is, but still. I love rcdb.com just as much (if not more) as the next guy, but what they say isn't the final word.

The American Eagle at SFGAm has the same name, but the park counts it as two rides.

The layouts are the same on the way out but they do differ on the return run. I prefer red over blue as the red has more (smaller) hills on the return. I guess I would consider this two coasters due to the differential in layouts and the fact that I prefer one side over another. In the case of a coaster like Gemini, I suppose the layouts are different but they mirror one another for the most part and I could really care less which side I ride.

I can't wait to stand in line...
Hmm, kinda late for me jumping in now, but what the hey. I'll throw in my $.02.

For me, the two tracks must feature something significantly different about them, not just be mirror clones, or VERY close to it.

Some rides I count as one: Gemini, all the Paramount Racers, Space Mountain WDW, KW Racer (how *could* you count it as two?), Colossus.

Some rides I count as two are: Windjammer (yellow was different enough for me to warrant the double count), Dueling Dragons, Gwazi, Lighting Racer (originally counted this as one, but changed my mind :)), American Eagle (strong preference for red side, as it features twice as many hills than blue), Twisted Sisters, Chiller, Rolling Thunder SFGAd, etc.

So that's my stance. If the coaster track has enough different to it that it feels noticeably better/worse, I count it as two.

How about we call them 1 1/2 coasters? hehe :)
Well I could care less what some of you say. I had to queue twice to ride both sides of a racing coaster, thus it is TWO coasters. Now for such coasters like Serpent De Fuego, that would be one coaster. It's a continuous track. However if the tracks are seperate, they count as two. Just my take, but this is all an opinion poll, and there will never be a drop dead straight answer. Come next year we'll fight about this again.
