Do not "Get to the Point"

I really feel sorry for those obsessed with going to Cedar Point all of the time. These individuals are so blinded by CP that they fail to see what everyone else has to offer. People have told me that they feel sorry for me only going to CP once a year. I feel sorry for them for not knowing the joys of Kennywood's Phantom or Idlewild's Rollo Coaster. Paramount Canada's Wonderland is the most beautiful park in the world to me and the Canadian people are pretty nice to talk to, yet if all I were to do is go to Cedar Point, I would never know what PCW is like. Cedar Point is a great park, but I would not be a coaster enthusiast if all I ever did was "Get to the Point". Everyone who is obsessed with CP needs to get out and see what other places have to offer. After all, you can't ride the world's oldest coaster at Cedar Point, but you can at a place called Lakemont. That is one of the many reasons why I do not see a need to always "Get to the Point", besides life would be POINTless if there were no PKI, PCW or KW.

It's great to go to CP, just not where the only park you go to CP. This year I have more desire to get to IB than I have want to go to CP. Let people go where they want, and if they're missing out, they're missing out, and leave them at that.

I don't think I have ever read a comment by anyone that said Cedar Point was the ONLY park they would ever go to. I'm not sure what you are driving at, unless you just wanted to do a little bashing.

True, but should you really be telling people that they shouldn't go? I've been to dozens of parks in the U.S. and Canada, and I keep going back to Cedar Point. Overall, it is the best amusement park, and I believe has the best variety of thrills out there.

Cedar Point is a park at which you could stay multiple days and not regret it. Other parks, that may be smaller, and have less coaster variety, do not offer this.

I used to hate Cedar Point butt kissers too, but now I happen to be one of them. I've experienced a lot, and quite honestly, overall, Cedar Point is the best park out there. Sure, I have to go to other parks once in a while, but I'll always come back to Cedar Point.

Totally off the subject...but I saw Harry Potter yesterday so I had to chuckle at the last comment. Anyway, I'm sure no one here ONLY visits Cedar Point. Sure we have a few here with delusions of grandeur but kids will be kids.
Well, I feel sorry for those people who just go to Kennywood every year or Wonderland every year and have not experienced Cedar Point.

The only people here who rave about CP and think every other park sucks are 13-year-old Ohioans who don't have the means to go anywhere else yet.

Heck when I was 13 I had only been to PKI (once) and Americana. I barely knew what CP was.

Okay... now this is coming from someone who has never been to Cedar Point.

Truth be told... I have no huge urge to go there. Not saying that I will not... probably will get there next summer or the following. Will I like it when I go... probably will. However will I believe the sun rises and sets on it... probably won't.

One thing that amuses me though... how some people equate this to the end all of parks... how if you visit another park, you simply go to that park... but if you visit CP, you have an "experience"... almost like goign to CP is some sort of rite of passage or something.

I know what your saying Den, and I'm 15 now and I have to make a trip up there, although I do want to take trips to other parks as well.

Can we change the name of Top Gun to your mom so no one wants to ride your mom?

The only time I even thought about visiting CP is today when I discovered that I'd be in the area on vacation. I just see it as another park. Doesn't look like more than a few good coasters, to me.

Strage SLFAKE: I thought the only park that somehad "HAD" to visit was Disneyland / Magic Kingdom.

...at least I "think" that's what it said in those Microsoft service agreements...

.....who the heck knows WHAT it says in those MS service agreements...I never read to the bottom, so for all I know I could've agreed to give Bill Gates my ever-lovin' soul, LOL.....

Talk about a pointless thread...

Which CP fanboys have said it's the only park on the planet? I think I speak for most of fanboys when I say that we've all been to at least three or four parks so far this year.

And I agree with the 13-year old comment. Those kinds of posts generally don't see more than a few minutes light of day, however.

I just wanted to say that Harry Potter was a lot better than I expected and I almost never even saw it.

Back on this subject, I agree about the '13 year-old boys' part since I used to do it a lot about PKI, but I've seen a lot of other people act like its the only park in the world and no other park deserves to be seen since CP is obviously the best and no one can touch it. Whatever. Their loss if they think and do this. Be glad there's one less person that won't be whining in front of you at PKI, PCW, or KW about what a boring time they're having since it isn't as fun as CP or something like that.

Intamin Guy: The joys behind the Phantom and the Rollocoaster? The Rollocoaster sucks, I've ridden it quite alot. The new Phantom isn't anything great either, I actually preferred the older one. And yes, I do go to parks other than Cedar Point, but never go back to the other ones, only Cedar Point. And yes, I have ridden Leap the Dips, and I did enjoy it, but I won't keep going back to Lakemont because there is nothing else there, except a nice minor league baseball stadium next to it.

Den: I'm not some "Ohioan" (thank God I'm not) that never went to another park. But guess what, Cedar Point's better than all of the other parks, and there IS a need to keep going back because they keep on expanding, something 90% of the other amusement refuse to do on a regular basis.

Never expect a truely objective thread about a certain park if a) the poster has the name of the park or b) the name of a certain coaster in that park as part of their user name.

'nuff said.

I'm 14 and people seem to take me seriously!

For the Cedar Point stuff. This guy is 'Intamin Boy' and so I don't know why he wouldn't want to go visit the two fun Intamins at Cedar Point. They are both really great!

SLFAKE: No schitt!!!

Anyway, to avoid this being simply a "me too" post (which would, as redman would be quick to point out, make me "just about as useless as JPEGs to Helen Keller") let me say, while I've never been mistaken for a "Po!nter" (though CP is one of my top 5 or 6 parks) that even "I" cant think of one real CP fan that doesnt extol the virtues of at least one other park. Either Holiday World or PKI or SFGAm or BGW or Kennywood seems to roll off the lips (fingers) of all the CP die hards that I've seen.

And at the VERY least, they seem to say good things about other Cedar Fair parks like Dorney and Knott's.

I think that you (Intamin Guy) and that other cat who had the MF bashin' thread (Superdude or something) need to actually READ the threads and stop attempting to solve problems that dont exist....unless of course you all have aspiration of running for Congress in which case, you are already on the right track (boooo, hiss, CHEAP SHOT) ;)

I am a CP fan (due to their capacity and great rides), and while I will extol the virtues of Dorney, I will not do the same for KBF, at least not anytime in the reasonably foreseeable future....wow did they manage to "screw the pooch".

All the other parks that I have visited are good fun parks, and even SFKK and SFA have been better upon return visits, but KBF's management has an ENORMOUS amount to learn about enthusiasts......hard to believe it's a CF park.....

SFMM, on the other hand, went out of their way to make up for the unavoidable loss of X to the Con line-up, and are commended for their actions......thanks, SFMM!
