Disney posts Galactic Star Cruiser pricing, and it's unsurprisingly expensive

From The Verge:

Today, the company announced a lot more information about the practical aspects of the Galactic Starcruiser experience, including a first look at pricing — and like the fictional Westworld theme park, it looks like Disney’s real world immersive Star Wars hotel will be limited to the extremely wealthy, with a two-night stay starting at $4,809 for two adults.

I just got back off an NCL cruise and I really enjoyed it. It seemed as "back to normal" as I would have expected. Granted every port was masks on but we knew that going in. Onboard, it was normal as NCL is requiring 100% vaccination of both crew and passengers. Crew is tested every 14 days (half crew one week, half the next) and all guests are antigen tested before boarding so if there is some positive, they have a pretty early detection.

That and the ship was only booked at 50% which meant a 1:1 crew/guest ratio. Also no one under 12 on the ship as they were not able to be fully vaccinated before sailing. I totally understand how that can be a bad point for those with families, but I enjoyed it. :)

THAT spoiled me.

I'd agree though, if I was doing this. I'd only do it after full offerings are in and 100% vaccination required.

We're going on NCL in January. It looks like besides only offering one major show (covid rule so only one group of performers is using the theater/dressing rooms/etc) that everything else is running as normal. With the ships at max 60% pax and around 90% crew, I'm already thinking of booking another one in the spring with the kids since they're both vaccinated now.

Not to hijack this thread and chat cruises but my VP just got back from a cruise on Virgin and after the glowing reviews of that ship and service, I am sold! My friend and I are already looking at dates next year to book. My VP is a former DCL Cruise Director (20 years I think) so she knows her way around the cruise industry and she is in love with how the Virgin experience went. So speaking of no kids, Id look into Virgin, Rob.

Scarlet Lady was docked behind us in Miami and we had aft facing so I got a good look at her. The aft facing blaconies on that ship are larger than the deck on the back of my house. They're insane.

Already looking. :)

The standard balcony rooms look a little... sparse, like Ikea showrooms. That aside, there is a lot of love for Virgin. We like to try Celebrity as well.

Celebrity is my go to for a truly relaxing trip when I want to be pampered and not around a party crowd. The lack of kids on those ships is as close as you can get on a ship outside of a Virgin cruise.

The question is, can you really put a price on LARPing in the same ship that Han and Leia took their honeymoon in? As in, literally moments after Death Star 2 was destroyed? And I thought the Holiday Special was a Star Wars low-point...

Promoter of fog.

As weird as this is, I believe the Venn diagram of Star Wars nerds, people willing to pay for this, and people who are actually aware of this expanded universe detail is not a single circle.

Some media about the 4 hour press preview are starting to come out. It looks pretty cool but it's still too expensive for my blood.

So we're just throwing "A Long Time Ago" into the garbage chute?

I think you mean into the garbage compactor.

I haven’t checked out the reviews or the materials, but isn’t the point that you’re suspending disbelief and playing a character? Like it’s not “2022 Andy” going on a galactic cruise, but “long time ago Jedi Andar Janakkkk” or something like that.

I watched some footage of the media preview, and they make mention that the ship is 200 years old, so that puts a timeline on it, somehow.

At least someone got my reference.

There's a garbage compactor sequence in the Netflix "Lost in Space" and I couldn't decide if it was an homage or a ripoff. (There's a fine line, I suppose.) More problematic, the Robinson kids surely have seen "Star Wars" so you'd think they would be smart enough to have planned ahead.
