What a shocking opinion from TYT.

What's with the obnoxious Fox style graphics? What a bunch of tools. Disney is responding to demand, and it really is that simple. I don't like the queue upcharges, but whatever, I still have a good time. The best part of this is the lefties who want to boycott the greedy corporation and the righties who want to boycott the "woke" corporation. And yet, here we are with record attendance.

I suppose I would generally be viewed as left-leaning, but the whole thing where Bernie Bros blame capitalism for all the problems are scapegoating the way the fascist far-righties blame everything on people of color. Capitalism works pretty well, but it needs guardrails. You can solve a great many problems by embracing capitalism in a non-exploitative way. Climate change could be solved already if it was viewed that way. Yes, trickle-down is nonsense, money in politics is bad, some companies consistently act immorally, but the existence of billionaires is not mutually exclusive of regulated capitalism working for more people.

Attendance is up at USO as well which leads me to believe that the record profits and attendance are still a pandemic aftershock.

As you pointed out, Disney is responding to demand. Their profits and pricing aren't the results of some sneaky, underhanded behavior. I don't understand why that's so hard for some people to grasp.

A family of four could "do Disney" for $500. Prove me wrong.

Depends on how "do Disney" is defined.

Dinner at Disney Springs?

If you wanna go the last week of August or September 2023, for one day at one park, there are some $109 days. There are some $124 days the second week of January.

I always come back to our usual comparisons of other entertainment things. Concert tickets are insane. Sportsball tickets are often insane. I saw Hamilton (Angelica Tour) recently for $225 in the fourth row, and I thought that was an amazing deal. Dine-in movies with food and one cocktail easily land at $60 a person for two hours. I think the math for a day at an Orlando theme park is pretty fair at $150. There are too many feelings around Disney as an aspirational rite of passage, I think, for people to look at it objectively, and factor in the demand for the product.

Let’s not pretend anyone is happy about that it. Ticketmaster sucks and the complaints online are many and yes the obnoxious resale market is largely because of Ticketmaster’a bull****.

I’ll never understand the mentality that every product has to be attainable to every single person?

Ticketmaster is a perfect example of why regulation and guard rails aren't bad. TM owns the ticketing and the venues and is often the promoter. In many cases you can't not have them involved. I don't know how the feds ever let the merger with Live Nation happen.

You and I might not pay those ridiculous prices. But plenty of people will. America is obsessed with performers and celebrities.

I guess that's evidence that there are more Americans in the center than on the ends of the spectrum. But I think we already knew that.

Is that true though? I'm genuinely amazed that people aren't more alarmed by people who just want to toss out elections because their tribe didn't win. You'd think that would be a more mainstream concern.

This seems to be a relatively recent thing. I never got to go to Disney growing up because my family was lower middle class at the time, my mom stayed at home so my dad was the only income earner. And I shrugged, we still took little vacations to all the parks around the northeast. Disney is overrated in the family department, I’ve got plenty of fond memories of The Great Escape and it’s storytown area, and that’s good enough for me 😁

The only true metric we have is elections. The Republicans were poised to pick up a ton of seats in the midterms but only barely took the House and will likely lose a seat in the Senate. Coupling that with big wins for Democrats in statewide races in battleground states it doesn't look like the American people agree with election deniers.

It may not be a majority, but around 40% of Americans believing, without evidence, that the 2020 election was fraudulent is shocking and terrifying, and anyone hand-waving that away should read a few history books.
