Disaster Transport not worth riding?

When me and my friend was at CP a week or two ago
I wanted to ride the DisasterTransport and he said it wasnt worth riding. What do you think?

I coast therefore I am.
Well, if you haven't ridden it before it's definately worth riding. It is not as cool as it would seem with the promoted special effects and all, but it is certainly worth a trip, especially during one of those hot summer days(it has a/c). Some parts of the ride are in complete darkness, which is cool. Also, the concept of a bobsled coaster is pretty cool. Plus, even the now cheezy special effects and props are quite humorous. "I'm losing control! I'M LOSING CONTROL!!!"

Deffinately worth at least one ride to get it on you coaster count. I wouldn't consider any coaster not worth riding at least once or twice.

Any coaster is worth riding. While I think CP should tear DT down and replace it with a CCI or GCI, I still think the ride is worth riding.
I enjoyed it. The bobsled and the dark make it pretty unique!
Ah... DT... The coaster that everyone loves to pick on!

It's a warehouse that should be torn down. It used to be a bobsled ride called Avalanche Run. But the ride supplied zero thrills. So they thought if they enclosed it, the thrill would arrive since you didn't know where you were going in the dark. It didn't work. It's just an ugly warehouse on beautiful lake property. Tear the thing down and chaulk it up as a lemon. I can't believe people really get a thrill on this ride..I really can't. I don't understand. I don't know anyone personally who likes it.

Ask yourself this. How many bobsled coasters remain now? Why? It's not hard to figure out. OK. because they are bad rides. Some people label it as a classic for this reason??#@$>!??? Think about it, the ride structure is no different from when it was Avalanche Run, so why did CP enclose it if it was such a good ride? Something was missing. Well, Space Mountain it is not!

Thank you for letting me vent.

Have you consider that maybe those little 10yearolds who cant ride Millennium or Magnum or chooses not to ride them find the more tame rides like DT exciting????? *** This post was edited by Coasterr on 9/20/2000. ***
I like the Alpine Bobsled at Great Escape. It's similar to DT single cars seating 8 or so. The only thing is that there are brakes on AB every 50 yards or so to slow it down. If I recall DT is just slow. If the brakes weren't there it would be an awsome ride. DT was ok I wouldn't consider it a heart stopper but like Coasterr said it's fun for the little kids. A good family ride. I'd take the old Flying Turns over any newer bobsled any day. Even though I never rode a Flying Turns.

DT is OK I guess. I didnt enjoy the ride very much because of the shape of the trains(cars). My knees were pressed against the seat in front of me the entire ride. When we would hit any type of bump or even a swift direction change, all the vibration was transferred directly to my *somewhat sensitive* knees. Not fun at all. That's the same reason why I hated SFGAm's 'Rolling Thunder' (now the aforementioned Alpine Bobsled). Not all bobsleds are bad though. I rather enjoyed 'Avalanche' at PKD. In fact, that was one of the most fun (and least painful) rides there when I went ('98). *** This post was edited by 2Hostyl on 9/20/2000. ***
Coasterr:

You have a good point. But I still feel that this ride was originally conceived to be an adult thrill ride, and it failed. They invested 4.5 million dollars to enclose Avalanche Run, and it's not any better. At least Avalanche Run was a pretty ride to look at. DT is a warehouse.

You can't deny that this ride has more controversy than any other ride at CP. The other "family" or "tame" coasters do not get ripped on like this. It just failed to meet expectations and became a kiddie coaster. They spent a lot of money on a kiddie coaster.
Martling,

It happens and I know people who prefer tame coasters probably like the fact that DT is available to them. Otherwise, this park could be a pain for people who aren't as hyped up on coasters as we are.

Now, I'm not saying they didn't overspend money on the ride. And really, I can't because I don't know how many people give DT a ride to see if its cost effective.

On that note I'm sure a lot of park chains would kill for Cedar Fair's record for putting in quality rides.

Bad rides?!? Just because they aren't 200ft + doesn't make them "bad rides"!! Yet another example of "What happened to the fun?". I find these rides to be fun. A ride doesn't have to 200ft + to be fun. "Ask yourself this." Do you go to parks just to diss their coasters?

Name of Ride: Roller Coaster
Yeah, I know its a roller coaster, whats the real name?

I think evry coaster is worth riding at least once. This way you can find out first-hand whether or not you like it.
I love DT, I just dont think its worth it to wait more than 20min for it.

Magnum-Just Ride It!!!
DT isn't high thrills. It is just fun. It is definately worth a ride. I ride it at least once everytime I get to the Point. I agree though that I would not wait in a line over 20 minutes for it (unless it is a hot day, AC).
Every coaster is unique. It should not be looked down upon as "boring" or "no good". As people mentioned above, some kids like this ride because of it's small size and theme. Aimed for adults or not, it is there for everyone to enjoy. If you don't like it, my advice is to not ride it. So quit complaining about it. If CP didn't want it, they would get rid of it. It's there for a reason... To thrill the not so thrill based public. (even though I ride it everytime I'm there :)) Love a coaster for what it has. Not what it doesn't have.

DT is unique, I'll give it that. An indoor bobsled coaster, I think a one of a kind. Maybe it is not the best "coaster," but a good ride for any amusement park. Kudos to CP for keeping it around. I enjoyed my ride on it.

Gotta ride 'em all!
Id heard so many bad things about DT that when I made my trip to CP in early September I avoided it. However, any indoor coaster cathes my eye (dont know why i just like the atmosphere or somthin) and I waited for it anyway. The wait was only 10-15 minutes and I found the ride very enjoyable. Not high on thrills, but much better than Id heard it to be and definitly a great family ride.
