I don't know for sure, but there is probably a height restriction in effect for the area Carowinds is in. I agree though, I'd welcome a Nitro clone a little closer to home!
The Skytower is 320 feet tall, if they can pull that off I doubt that a hyper would fall outside any restrictions that may exist.
Besides, You got our flyers, That means you must DIE! :)

It just particularly rankles because CW already *has* a wavepool-- do they really need another? I would've been a little less upset if they'd gotten some unique new water slide or something, but...
I may have to check out the park during a concert sometime. Weekdays will be fun too, if I can manage it. Maybe I'll get my "revenge" by putting on a bathing suit and checking out the wavepool. I'll probably blind everybody with my pale, pale skin! :) :) LOL

Nobody complains about this bad-boy, either.http://www.rcdb.com/id1565.htm
I still think that's one of the best-looking coasters ever designed. I hardly ever hear anything about it anymore. I wonder if it's as good as it looks?

Expedition G Force is still the best coaster i've ridden in Europe. Silverstar came close, but not close enough.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Sick, man... SICK!
Thanks for the appropriate corrections to my misconceived notion that Carowinds could never have a "Hyper" (Travio and CoastaPlaya). And special thanks to those who posted links to the "Mega" coasters that look totally fun! Consider me corrected!

According to the NL recreation and a YouTube video I watched, there are only two brakes besides the midcourse out on the course. Am I missing something, or have more brakes been added?
I was hoping something good would come for 2008, because right now I'm literally in a good position to enjoy it-- I live about 20 miles from the park (give or take) versus the 120 (or so) that I used to. I probably won't be living here that long (going to school for a master's) so I want to enjoy this as much as I can.
They did throw us a bit of a bone at least-- now if you get a season pass you get into the SCarowinds Halloween Haunt next year for free-- yippee! And the way I understand things, since they reduced the price for our passes, I'll be getting a small refund, too. Free parking will also be nice.
I was just hoping that I'd get lucky next year, and they'd put in something new that I could really enjoy. It seems like other parks get new coasters and/or rides much more often, but that's probably just a matter of perspective. Heck, Kennywood gets a new ride of some kind almost every year! And they're a smaller park. I miss Kennywood...
I'm seriously hoping to make up for all of the years I couldn't afford to go to amusement parks this coming year! Last year seriously sucked-- I got to "go" to the MB Pavilion before it closed, but I didn't have the money to ride anything. :( :( Before that, the last time I'd been to a park was Kennywood in 2001.
Oh well, *IF* Carowinds gets a great new coaster in 2009, it might be enough incentive to get me to stick around for a month or so after I graduate! :)
Now I just have to wait until March 21-- opening day 2008!
