Disappointed that no 4d's annouced for 04?

I'm Really bummed that no 4d's were annouced so far for 04. I think that it's a crime that no park has commited to this coaster when it's still the number one coaster at SFMM. That's saying alot with fifteen other coasters. Arrow has motified the design and made improvements to the ride. So what's the deal?

#1, Arrow is out of business, they are now owned by S&S.

#2, 4ds are a mechanical nightmare, they are to complex a and literally beat up the track.

I lied.

As someone who would love to ride one....yes. But, I'm very glad they haven't announced any. No matter how great the actual ride is, the only one now is a pretty big disgrace. I hope that Arrow/S&S can fully figure out how to make future ones successful along with X, and I hope other firms (like B&M) can make a good one too.

Arrow and S&S are a joint venture. S&S hasn't dissolved Arrow. The layouts on their site are much more efficient. It's been rumored that Arrow has motified the 4d vehicles to make them lighter weight. Also rumored that the new design doesn't have the third and fourth running rails.

Answer me this Intamin's rocket coasters are overpriced junk that don't work properly. And three were purchased so far.

Verkoma's flying coaster are mechanical nightmare's too. Don't even get me started on their inverted Super Boomerang's.

But the Vekoma's are cheap. Stealth was the prototype, so you can't really beef about that, and the other two were slated for other paramount parks as a package before they were bought by Six Flags. It's not like anyone looked at Stealth and said, "Gee that's a great ride, even though it's plagued by mechanical problems. We should get one."

The same is true for the GIB's. All three in the U.S. were purchased at the same time, no doubt as part of a package, and I'm pretty sure the forth was ordered before the problems were rearing their ugly heads.

The first two rockets were definitely part of a package as well. Prototype/proof of concept to KBF. Unlike Paramount, CF was satisfied so they went ahead with the big daddy at CP.

On the other side of the coin, SFMM went for the big daddy first, so they're not likely going to be spreading smaller designs around the chain.

In any case, seeing as most parks haven't announced '04 yet, you can't really complain. It'd be like me complaining that no 4D's have been announced for '07 yet.

03, 04 or 07 Doesn't matter. Stealth is getting transfered in favor for a waterpark. You didn't mention why hershey would purchase a rocket? Let's talk about Parmount's brilliant decision to put a Zamperla's flying coaster @ Canada's Wonderland. Enough said .The perfect coaster line up @ a park. Togo Standup, Verkoma SLC, A B&M flyer with an Air layout, and a Intamin 500ft Rocker LOL.

What does that have to do with my comment? Doesn't make any sense.

The Intamin rockets can't even be compared to X. Xcellerator is it's second season is operating like X never will, TTD is doing fine now too. Besides, they are whole different monsters.

The bottom line is even after months of downtime, countless mods, and several years of work, X is still a disgrace as a ride. (Not saying that the actual ride experience isn't amazing) It's a real shame....when it was announced I thought it would be "the next big thing".

Wow, how quickly we are forgetting that we are in the middle of a slow economy, where parks are making fairly conservative decisions. Would you buy a 4D right now? They are expensive and unproven. Besides, I'd hardly call 3 rocketcoasters(two bought by the same customer) as much of a risk. Intamin has been launching coasters for 7 years.

The only thing I can say about a 4D is that I'm waiting to hear about the New Wild Escape park near Omaha following through with their plans to build a 4D in the near future.

Now do you personally belive that someone is gonna build a 4D for 2004?

My answer is: I don't know!

What do you think?

Exactly, the reason why no coasters (let alone any 4D's) have been announced yet this year is because hardly any parks will be building new coasters in the US market next year.
Just look at the first LIM ride Superman The Escape, it opened a year late after problems. Intamin got another chance at building LIM coasters and was able to create the fairly reliable impulses that several parks now own.

If Arrow/S&S gets another chance at a 4D I do believe it will run rather reliable and I doubt they will make the same mistakes twice.

Some of you say "No park will ever buy one after seeing X". But most likely some park will give them the chance sooner or later, it happened with LIM coasters and it happened with Flying coasters so its bound to happen with 4D's.

If you really want to get technical, S:TE uses LSM's. FoF was the first coaster to use LIM's.

And it didn't really happen with flying coasters. Vekoma hasn't sold any since the first three which were all part of one package. B&M took over the market and looks to be doing quite well with them.

I read your damn post. You just seemed ignorant to the fact that, like I said, most parks haven't announced what they will receive for 2004 since you were complaining about no 4Ds being announced.

Tell me, Ride of Steel, is that your expert engineering opinion?

Like anything else, it's just economics. No one wants to put up the money for one. I'm sure the fact that SFMM can't keep theirs open seven days a week isn't really good for sales either.
