Ugh, The Crypt. The first time I rode it was yesterday, and it was kinda fun, but my friend described what it was like as Tomb Raider and now I'm disappointed. They easily could have used a generic adventure/exploration/creepy theme for the ride without infringing on any trademarks, and I'm kinda bummed that now it's mostly darkness with a few colored lights here and there.
Maybe if it had been built that way originally and we didn't have Tomb Raider to compare it to, we would feel differently?
^Well if you didn't ride TR:TR, you wouldn't understand how terrible the ride cycle was... Not sure if I would trade the theming for a better ride cycle, though.
Was music playing during the ride, at least? (The lack of a musical score has really brought the Crypt/TR down the past couple seasons, IMO.) Also, is the Durga statue still there, just not illuminated, or did the park remove it this season?

There was some sort of 'jungle beat' music during the ride, and whispering winds before and after and in the queues. Durga is there, although you can't see much of it since the lighting (what little there is) mostly focuses on the ride itself. I actually wasn't sure what was on the wall until I read the Wikipedia article this morning.
Crypt was down yesterday when I went by, so I didn't get to try it. But from last year's experience I think the ride, themeing aside, is better than it was as Tomb Raider. With Tomb Raider you got a lot of hold time (or hang time) as it paused for scenery or special effects, and there was very little spin, if any. With Crypt the special effects are gone, but the ride acts more like a typical Top Spin with more action than before. A down side to Crypt is the front row was completely removed, leaving only two now. I understand it was done to improve operation, but it also has decreased capacity by that much. I know if the line is ever long I don't get in it.
The Tomb Raider program and the show elements were cool. I thought it was a pretty well executed ride (even if the ride itself couldn't keep up).

All of the stuff in the box made you forget you were in a ride that felt like you were tumbling down a hill in a wooden barrel. I miss Tomb Raider.
I thought the new ride cycle was a lot better.... There was one flip that really made me disoriented and I got off the ride content.

I've heard the water effects are back on... Can anyone confirm this? (Sorry to take us so far off topic...I've just always been interested in the ride.)
-Daniel
Just realized I snapped a photo or two of either Walter or Claude taking a spin. (we couldn't figure out if he was the 'B' or the 'M')
Third car, back seat closest to the camera, riding alongside the suits - is it Walter or Claude? Which one typically shows up to ride? (another look)

I didn't notice any water effects when I rode it. We were held very briefly staring straight down, though, which is probably where it would have happened, had it happened.
Gonch, I met Walter at the Patriot Media Day, and that does look like him. I spoke with him for a few moments, and he was very pleasant.
I remember thinking that he was much shorter than I thought he would be, and that man appears to be short. I am not 100% certain though.
I really can't wait to ride this July 4th weekend. Looks so much better than behemoth!

It has always been my understanding that Claude M. is the less outgoing of the dynamic duo...
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)
Yes, it was Walter. The B.
Come to think of it, I don't recall ever seeing The M. in person. Even at IAAPA, I only ever recall seeing The B. Not to say he wasn't there, just that I don't think I've ever seen him in person.

Is that Nixon in the front row?
And has anyone ever seen the M? I remember hearing that he retired but I don't remember when or who said it.
Cool. Now I know. It's a pic of the 'B' riding his own creation.
I'll have to add that to the page.
I rode 30 times on media day, and toward the end of that, the forces were starting to get to me. I'd never marathoned a ride of that intensity before, it got pretty interesting later on in the ride session.
I was on the same train with B once or twice. Didn't get the chance to meet him but he seemed like a nice guy.
Has anyone had a rough ride on Diabondback because we followed holiwood night with KI and I have yet to post this for fear of losing cedability. When we were there the train seem to shake badly under heavy g-forces It gave me a hedace. The float was good but I did not get to ride back scinceit was assigned seating all day. My gilfriend di though she said it shook worse in the last car and we both oly did two rise on it our friend was done after one. I don't know why it seem so shakey I rode every other ride there and marathoned voyage the day before and none of it bothered me. I don't think it was the forces either it seem like they were strong but less than some forces on FOF, LL, and vortex The entrance to the first helix on stunt coast even had more downward pull but non of them seemed to rattle the same way DiamondBack did it seemed speed related so I am guessing it might be whells or it might be in my head but towards the end th shaking seemed noticable but less violent
I don't know what it was I have never experienced a ride like that on a B&M before has any one else felt this. I think it is wheels because on RB at SFGAM when the wheels get old the fouth drop which is the mose forceful starts to rattle abit. That ride though is pretty forceless in term of posotive g's.
I had a few non-smooth rides here and there in the valleys of some hills, but it seemed limited to certain cars on certain trains, implying wheel issues. It was nothing as bad as, say, Hydra.
