Design flaw forces indefinite closure of the X at Magic Mountain

Posted | Contributed by bigboy

A design flaw has forced indefinite closure of X at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Officials had expected the problem to be fixed quickly but offered no timetable Monday for its reopening. The ride was closed in mid-May after maintenance crews noticed one of the coach seats wasn't riding smoothly.

Well, X has had rave reviews left and right, so many people love it and hopefully, the park understands that enough to get it fixed asap.

I don't know what it is they have to do, but I hope they do it without a huge reconfigureation

I wonder what Alan at Arrow is saying about all this...

Ok Jeff, what is your problem? You always seem to have a problem with being wrong. You may not believe this, but it's ok to be wrong sometimes! Secondly, you posted false info and then blatently tried to cover it up. That is sad. Just admit you were wrong and everyone would be cool with that. But no, you always have to be right...

Back on topic...Intamin AG was 100% correct about X never opening. It has been shut down since late May and won't be open for a long time. I too work at SFMM and they tell us it won't be open for a while. I just wish that everyone would stop complaining! It opens when SFMM and Arrow feel all the kinks are worked out and everything is working properly.

(And Jeff, if you ban me because of this post, it means that you really did try and cover up false info and you always have to be right.)

Shame!, I liked the fact most of MM attendance were stuck in the X queue line :) Please don't break Goliath!

For those of you whining about the ACE event:

Start your own thread. This topic is about X being closed. If I'm getting sick of reading all this ACE Con garbage that managed to get thrown in with this topic.

Why do you people get such a hard on when you find a reason to prove me wrong? Get a hobby.

The only thing I did was repeat what people posted, who said that there were people on the ride. They didn't specify whether it was testing or the public. The only thing I was wrong about is that I misinterpreted that as open. Give me a spanking and move on.

In mid-June I said:

Yes, there were some weld problems on the X trains. The problem was not the engineering, but rather poor welding of certain parts by a third-party vendor. It's not Arrow's or Six Flags' fault per se. The word on the street is that they hope to have the ride in full swing within two weeks or so.

I stand by that statement. At the time they were fairly certain they would be able to re-open the ride. I don't care if you don't believe me. That's your choice. The fact is there's still more to this story than you know, and if I could share it, I would. Seeing as how you can't build trust with people by flapping your lips, I'm not going to.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if you saw more about this saga in the news before too long.

Well then that's all you had to say. You even kept your story half-way through this thread. I'm glad you admitted you were wrong in saying that you mis-interpreted the info.

I work at Six Flags Magic Mountain, And every day i have to tell people X is not open. X has not been Open Since it was Closed in May, Not once was it open, Not once!! Therefore you are not correct in Assuming since u live in Cleveland Ohio, that X was ever open.

Seems you dont know much if you work there do you, the true facts were that X closed about 1 week before Memorial Day Weekend, and SFMM managed to get it open for that day(May 25th if my memory serves me correctly), the ride then OPERATED until June 5th I believe when it went down for good. I know this for a fact because I am with the ECC, and we took a trip to California and visited SFMM on June 3rd and June 4th, and we all managed to take at least 1 ride on this coaster.

May 25th - June 5th? That's about 1 1/2 weeks. The ride did operate then, but not in June...

At Least the M.M. designers tryed to create such an awesome ride i wish they would fix the ride and make a clone of it down here in texas

LOL. Arrow Dynamics designed X. Parks usually don't design their own coasters...

Why don't they just change the name of X to Drachen Fire 2? Finding out what's REALLY wrong with it is as impossible as finding out what was REALLY wrong with DF! I feel sorry for Arrow. They will NEVER lose their bad reputation for building coasters with SERIOUS design flaws at this rate!
