my mother worked parttime at muskego beach around 1948, 1950. she knew the guy who operated the whip and my sister and i got free and longer rides. i remember the night time and the lights when my father and sister and i picked her up at night. my sister was close to getting a prize playing skee ball and played it alot. i never went in that building. i went to the arcade and remember the bright lights, the background noise from the rides and the fortune teller and the arcade cards, 2 for a nickel of roy rogers and other movie stars, and the old flip card machines from about 1900 that had been painted silver. for some reason, i remember that i was the only one in the arcade, and nobody else was in there. the rides probably were more poplular.
does anyone else remember the arcade? i wish i could go back in time and that i could have 15 more minutes in there.
There was a death at Dandilion Park, just not on Tailspin. It was actually on the ferris wheel July 18, 1974. Michael Prucha, 11, of Racine, died when he fell from the ferris wheel after a seat became disconnected. The Muskego Historical Scociety has a picture of the ferris wheel and a little blurb about it on their website.
