Danbury Mint makes MF collectable miniature

Pretty cool if you ask me...

And now I spend my days in ever increasingly complicated ways convincing myself of the rightness of each word I say - mewithoutYou
I think its awesome and I'd love to get the whole set when they come out. However $80 is a little steep.

Thanks,
DMC

Actually, that is kinda cheap for things of this nature. They're limited, and those things aren't cheap to produce.

That link isn't working for me.

Danbury and Franklin aren't cheap. My mom gave me the Franklim mint civil war chess set for my birthday in 1984. It's beautiful. I imagine MF look just as good.

"Carole Sanderson, president of the American Coaster Enthusiasts, said members of her coaster riding organization probably wouldn’t be that interested in a miniature replica."

So, if ACErs aren't going to be buying this thing, who IS? Just wondering...

It *is* priced accordingly with their other merchandise....

Sounds to me like she was making a statement that is true for herself and then applying it to enthusiasts in general. I think that enthusiasts would eat something like this up.

Walt Schmidt - Co-Publisher, PointBuzz

i wonder what Ms. Sanderson bases that on?

LOL She said they wouldn't buy it but people would buy it as a gift for members, thinking that they would like it.

Watch the tram car please....
“I think for $70, most would rather buy a season pass to Cedar Point.”

Really? I guess most of them will be driving to VF to get it! :) Before October 31st, of course...

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

I noticed what she said on RRC the other day when they posted this. And people wonder why ACE has a bad rep...

Does anyone know how to go about (pre-)ordering this item? I can't find anything on the Danbury Mint website.

Chill out with the ACE hate. Who knows what the context of the question was, or what else she said in response. Take it from someone who has been mis-quoted, you are always taken out of context and printed how the paper sees fit.

Its not even a bad quote.

Me, I honestly have no interest. But my mom would annoyingly think I would like it and buy it for me if she could afford it. She still insists on buying me all kinds of collectable crap that I collected when I was 12 like I still enjoy it.

^Same here, although it looks nice and very well constructed......just not my thing. I would rather spend the money on a season pass. :-)

FYI - Here is the response I got back from Danbury Mint on ordering this without the coupon:

The item number is RCB-01

Thank you for your inquiry as to how you can place an order.

You can place a credit card order online at our secure site . From here, you can go to our sports website, browse our catalogs or place an order by clicking on "Order Center" on the bottom right-hand side. You can also place an order by responding to this email (but please be aware that this is not a secure email address so we suggest you don’t include a credit card if ordering here.)

I personally am not 'ACE hating', I have nothing against the organization, and If/When I move to South Carolina, Rampage is gonna make sure I sign up since I'll be in his reigon anywho, but to just brush this off like she did is, to me, poor taste.

To say that 'members of her coaster riding organization probably wouldn’t be that interested' is presumptuous at best, speaking out of line at worst. My only problem with ACE is the higher officials thinking they matter. Its a geek club, plain and simple. I don't need other Geeks answering for me. Which is why I did (yes, really geeky here) become a member of the Official Star Trek Fan Club at one point, because it is run as a business, and not as an organization. The 'leader' is someone who isn't elected.

If I were a member of ACE, I'd like this little collectable. Had she said "Some members may not be interested, but this is interesting and I hope they do well", then I'd feel different. But the quote, and I doubt it a misquote, seemed awefuly negative, and as I said, presumptuous.

Sort of reminds you of the Disneyland in minature series only smaller. I guess it would make a good paper weight if you worked in an office.

Even when complaining about something here to YOU ALL (bunch of coaster geeks), all discussions I have with those OUTSIDE of all this coaster/park stuff, I try to remain upbeat and positive....sometimes desperately so. ;)

As a representative of those who are committed to SUPPORTING the industry in ALL its facets, this wasn't the best statement (or phrasing) I've heard....even if it was taken out of context. I'm sure once Carole read it in print she'd like to have re-worded it a bit...

Seriously though....no harm no foul. ;)

Listen, Carole's response is most likely not a misquote or a misrepresentation of her attitude. I had to deal with her when we (CoasterDynamix) exhibited at Cedar Point last year and she was about the rudest pain in the ass I have ever dealt with. I like ACE and I've had many good experiences with both members (of which I am one) and staff. With the exception of her. Perhaps she has a thing against coaster models.
A lot of people seem to be against coaster models. Too many people are only interested in computer renditions which, to me, could never be as cool as a real live 3d model.

So when is the wooden Coasterdynamix gonna come out? ;)

Jack: you may be right. Models, miniatures, hmmm, maybe she's a afraid of being cloned.
Would you buy a Danbury mint of her?
:) jk
