Construction Update June 9th, 2007!
Had a chance to hit the park today because of a concert at the park I could get some photos from the bleachers. All the bents have been erected for the ride. They have added the lift hill motor house and lots more work has been done on the station area. The far end turn around is mostly done just waiting for steel track layers. The middle section seems to be where most of the work is happening. The ride is starting to take shape as it looks like more track layers have gone down and more support braces added. Below are some photos of the lift hill and first drop, some photos of the station house and the far end turn around work with the usual random photos of the ride from different views..
Enjoy!!!

Is the mystery guest going to be a country music star? ;)
I was thinking more of a recent American Idol Winner. :)
Forget it, I'll pass. I avoid all things American Idol like I avoid Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart wants to build a Store about 1/2 Mile from where I Live. The neighborhood is putting up one heck of a N.I.M.B.Y. Fight to keep it out. The City has told Wal-Mart their plans are WAY too big for the area they wish to put it and have told them to consider a smaller store, like a Country Market Grocery Store instead of a Supercenter (There are TWO of these within 3 miles of where I live! The Traffic around them SUCKS :( )

Good for your neighborhood. I wouldn't want one of those things in my backyard, or anywhere near it. I have a feeling that Wal-Mart always suggests a "too big" store for the site they want, that way when the local government complains it's too big, they can scale it down to the size they expected to build in the first place. Plus that way they look as though they're being nice and working with the locals with respect to their wishes.
Wal-Mart should be cut down to a size where we can drown it in a bathtub.
Let's get back to the Main Subject, mainly the rebuilding of the Starliner at Cypress Gardens. :)

(I didn't mean to take this thread on a new direction!)

Anyhow I do look forward to seeing this Coaster back in action when it opens later this summer.

Jordin Sparks will be there? Cool...!!

Winterhaven is about 1.125 hours from me...I'll be there.

WAIT! I'm sorry, but that was just my opinion. Jordin Sparks won't be there, I just thought that it would be cool if she was. Sorry for the confusion.

EIGHT DAYS AND COUNTING! BTW, the guest celebrity is actually a Star from Hannah Montana (and no it's not Miley Cyrus). Construction is now going furiously fast to get this thing done in 8 days. I hope they can make it, but the chances of making the date seem less likely everyday. They need to sneak in over 10 test runs before they can open this thing.
THREE DAYS TILL OPENING ON SATURDAY! And here's what they have so far.

http://cypressgardens.homeip.net/search.php?SearchTerms=Starliner%20Construction

All the ride needs now is trackwork for the first drop and and first airtime hill, a chain and motor for the lift hill, a pathway and 250 successful test rides. It would take around 10 hrs to do all 250 tests one after the other. So if they start testing before Midnight on Friday, then the ride will be done!

Or maybe it will open later in the day, ala Timbers.

I'll be there Saturday, and I couldn't care less who the celebrity might be....'cause the *star* is that sweet John Allen - and it's been kicked up a notch or two... :)
Gator...I'm JEALOUS!

Guess I'll have to settle for that other sweet JA in Rossville next Wednesday.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
I'm not suprised

If you have plans to go to CG on Saturday.................DONT GO! Starliner is NOT opening on Saturday unfortunatley. I repeat, Starliner is NOT OPENING ON SATURDAY! The new date will be announced within the week.

Any news on the trains? I sure hope they keep those 'classic'. Too bad about the station. They sure can paint though!
