Cyclops at Mount Olympus

Just kind of curious as to the reason this rule is in effect?

Because of this.
Super strong ejector air with only a buzz bar. The people at the park said it was WI state law that only 18+ ride the last car, and they have that written in black marker on a wooden handrail near the entrance to the station.
Yeah, after running a search for a second time I found the answer. I don't know, reading the other thread it sounds like one of those leniant laws.

Hehe Moosh, my wife does take pretty good pics, eh? ;)

First visit to WI later this year, wondering which seat I should ride in? :)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Cyclops was my 50th coaster and the only place I wanted to sit was the back seat and all I have to say is major air time. Words can't describe this awesome rush, you just have to ride in the back to see what I am talking about.

There were some other guys that showed up after my wife and I marathoned the coaster and I told them about the back seat as they wanted to know what the big deal was, lets just say they were in the back seat for at least 20 laps in a row after that.

I haven't actually seen them enforce this rule.

They have the greatest signage ever posted in a theme park at this place.

"The park has no insurance. You ride at your own risk"

Or something to that effect. Brilliant. ;)

By the way, Cyclops is the...BEST...WOODEN...COASTER...EVER. At least in my opinion. :) Insane airtime. Absolutely insane.

If you jump off a cliff, you might as well learn to fly since you've got nothing to lose
On the PLANET?
Avalanche is better...so no, not on the planet. I think the air on Cyclops is actually a bit too strong as it hurts me every time and does not feel like flying as much as just having my legs wacked with the buzz bar, but that is just my opinion. I do really like the air on the second hill however.

Before I visited Mt. Olympus last June all I heard was "Ride Cyclops in the last seat, the airtime is amazing!" and "OMG the last drop on Cyclops is the best ever!" and on and on and on.

So I rode it. Yeah, its good air but it didn't live up to the hype. At the very least it suffered from overhype or anticipointment. Sitting in the last row I thought the air coming off the lift was better than that on the last drop. And I didn't think the last drop was any more or less intense than other infamous "5th Drops" on Raven, Ghostrider, and others.

In fact none of the three MtO woodies lived up to the pre-trip hype, especially Zeus which I had hoped would be a better version of Timber Terror.

Oh well...there's always hope for Hades :)

I am not sure what happend on your trip but I have done both Raven and Cyclops in the same weekend, and they are not even close. I like Raven better, but Cyclops is way stronger.

Its a great drop...def one of the best in wood coasterdom. I was probably expecting WAY too much from it.
I agree that the Cyclops drop doesn't live up to the hype it receives. It's good, but it's really just one short burst of intense air. It used to be much better when there were six cars.

I don't know what hype you thought Zeus wasn't living up to. I thought I was the only one who liked that ride. :)

Pegasus is just a piece of crap.

That is just it with Cyclops...it is not a good drop, but it still makes you wack that buzz bar harder than any other coaster I have been on. The strong air on Raven and ST are a lot more fun, but it does not eject you as fast.
Hit Cyclops and Dells last summer for the first time. All I can say is boy that Avalanche is a kick ass coaster... :-)
While the rest of the ride was just O.K., that drop on Cyclops is the only one to literally put my ass on the seat divider. Georgia Cyclone has come close but Cyclops was the only one to actually do it.:)

I bet you don't hit the bar as hard as you would on Coaster at PNE (for those that have ridden her). ;)

The Flying Turns makes all the right people wet - Gonch

I second that. I rode front seat and thought she was tame, after a back seat ride I was bruised and in pain (PNE.) *** Edited 4/14/2005 5:00:22 AM UTC by GoliathKills***
