Credits ruining coaster experience

Phyter said:If it makes you feel any better Coasterkid16, my friends and I are going on a tour of all the major theme parks on the west coast and we're spending at least a whole day at each one. In fact we're spending 3 whold days at Magic Mountain. So not all of us are obsessed with quantity.

Three full days should in theory at least be enough to ensure that every coaster is open on at least -one- of the days you are there :)

I think we all have our own ways of keeping track of our rides, whether it's how many coasters we have been on and/or how many times we have been on each. I have my own way of *counting* as does every other enthusiast. There are no rules to counting. I mean, who cares anyway.

This is a hobby which is VERY fun but it doesn't take up my life. Anybody who starts to take it too seriously should give it up fast. :-)

I enjoy comparing/contrasting experiences, and have gotten a considerable amount of travelling done in the past few years since being bitten by Montu...my regrets are oftentimes "non-coaster stuff" in the areas I've been to moreso than the rides, and I look forward to seeing as much of the world around me as I can....ANY coaster experience that I can tack on to that is just *gravy*....:)

coasterkid16,

Before you decide to judge someone, maybe you should take the time to find out the whole story. The original purpose of my CA trip last year year was a surprise b-day party for my great grandma. The coaster riding side trip was an added bonus before hand. Unfortunately, life in the real world means that vacations are not always as long as they ideally should be thus leaving me to set my priorities for time at each park.. The farther from San Diego, the more time allotted.

Yes, I did hit Disneyland, CA Adventure, Adventure City, Knott's Berry Farm and Castle Park in the same day in that order. I rode almost all of the flats and the coasters multiple times at Disney and even saw a show before leaving. Single riders lines combined with the fast pass meant my longest wait was about 15 minutes and that was a much needed water ride. Adventure City was a cute park and I enjoyed tree top racer. Ok, so I only had 3 hours for Knott's and 1 for Castle, big deal. My concentration was Disney that day.

I prefer small parks and hate large crowds. That probably explains why I scheduled an entire day for Bonfante, Legoland, and Mundo Divertido, and 1/2 day/night for Santa Cruz and Belmont. And, yes I found that it does take a minimum of 2 days of SFMM to see everything in operation.

True highlights of my trip: Riding Belmont's Giant Dipper with my Great Grandma on her 90th b-day, seeing out of town family members, Stealth, Bonfante Gardens (what a beautiful park!), the Gilroy Garlic festival, grabbing for the brass ring on the carousel at Santa Cruz, Soarin' Over CA, the Santa Cruz Giant Dipper, Technic coaster, watching the artists drawing on Pacific Park boardwalk, and the crazy cabbie in Tijuana.

If a trip like that makes me a credit whore, well, so be it. But at least I enjoyed it, and that's what matters.

Wow. That is simply insane. I could say that all but Adventure City and Castle Park deserve a full day, but you know that. :)

On my trip, I did SFWoA and Kennywood in a day. Boy do I regret that. Turns out SFWoA was far better than anticipated, and we didn't have time to do two of the coasters, and I didn't go to the Wildlife side at all.

I'd been to KW before, but its a great park, so I would have loved to have more than a few hours there.

The Trip: CP, SFWoA, PKI, KW, HW, IB, SFGAm, MiA and LeSourdsville too.
8 Days- 10 parks. May 2003
