Credits ruining coaster experience

I also agree that the Vekoma Juniors are a blast. I honestly think it's the company's best product in terms of reliability and enjoyment.

Now if I could only convince TTM to join me on some...

If you ride more coasters than anyone else, what does that get you? What is the reward or the prize?

Nothing.

So, what is the point of being obsessed by it? The same holds true for post counts. Who the heck cares how many posts you have made? I sure don't.

There's no prize? Hell, that's why I became a coaster enthusiast. Well, it was nice knowing you all...

This is my final post. Goodbye.

Did you actually think I was going to read that, Bob? As I said, that was my last post, and I'm not coming back. Ever.

Er, starting now.

I think it should be one of those gadgets they use to release stuck lapbars...I'd love to have on of those things, whatever they're called....:)

Nahh, that wouldn't be all that great. Certainly not worth my return to this site. Oh, wait.

Damn.

Am I a credit whore? No! I won't get pissed when a ride is closed and I don't get to ride it. I will ride everything in a park though. And the reason being not for the credits but to experience everything they have to offer.

'gator, I think the technical term is screwdriver, at least that is what I've seen used the most.
rollergator's avatar
boblo....I have also seen a screwdriver used, but mostly (at least on all these blessed PTCs *we* have, LOL) is a T-bar looking thing a little longer than a screwdriver...

C'mon, there's like a *million* ops around this site, would ONE of them please tell us what that thing is called...;)

*nothing* ruins my riding experience...and I *love* the kiddie rides!

I think it is called a Lap Bar Lifter Upper. But I think the prize should be a nice refreshing Diet Coke.

Hers my point again, you shouldn't judge yourself about how big a tool you are by how many you ride, I personally should think about what the quality is. Here is another scenerio. Someone who has 300 credits, and someone who has 104 (my personal count), just because that person has more doesn't make them bigger or better because you know deep down that probably 50+ of those are kiddie coaster credits.

Anyone who decides they're bigger or better because of their count is definitely missing the point. Anyone who whores credits to show off to other people is also missing the point.

I personally enjoy pretty much every coaster I ride (many many kiddies included). I whore credits because I've never ridden a new coaster that wasn't worth the time/trip.

I'm definitely bigger and better because of my count. Well, I'm at least bigger and better than those who have only ridden 130 or less.

And I'm bigger and better than everyone here because I'm no longer visiting CoasterBuzz.

Unless there really is a prize.

I only ride coasters to impress people.

Joe, credit whore

Top Thrill Dragster -- The most intense, unbelievable, and spectacular fifteen seconds on any coaster, anywhere, ever.

I don't see anything wrong with it. If it makes someone happy to add as many credits as they can, then so be it. I, myself, don't ride kiddie coasters(unless I happen to be with a child). I also usually skip boomerangs. I skip SLC's most of the time, as I have never been on one I liked (N'or easter came close, due to the tight layout and footchoppers).

But, if someone wants to be a whore, then who am I to complain.

The point I'm trying to say here is if you really whore credits then you can and probably will miss some of the greatest parks ever, pretty much case in point the Knotts situation, it is a great park and has 2 top of the line rides, but if you combine 4 parks into one day you can miss some of the greatest things a park has to offer. Whether it be a coater a kcick A$$ flat ride or even a show.

Some of the best coasters are the smaller ones, such as the Roadrunner Express and the Little Eagle. They weren't listed on the coaster tour shirts so we never got to mark them off, but we rode them because they looked fun. Whenever Jason wants to cram too many parks into one trip I always get onto him because I want to have a good time and not be tired and grouchy.

Well jeeze, since Vater is gone I have to leave too... He's my hero.

...and about the small park vs big park... I'd rather go back to California to visit KBF than to visit SFMM again.

Besides, what do I need credits for, I get free parking, entrance and drinks at Cedar Point, why should I need to travel anywhere? :)

I'm at 168 right now,

Interesting -- so am I. I expect to hit about 220 by the end of the year though, which, given I only took this hobby up in 2001, seems respectable enough.

I've seen some people stuffing their counts by counting multiple tracked rides (Steeplechase@BPB, Racer@PKI, etc) as multiple coasters. My own count is simple -- if the ride has one name, it's one ride. Even stuff like Twisted Twins@SFKK is one coaster for me.
