Wanted to pass along the our webcam is now showing the area where, very soon, Liberty Launch will stand.

That crane is 125-feet tall.

The action should take place right around noon central time.

tick, tick, tick......less than an hour left Paula. Hope you've already eaten!

Liberty Launch is leaving land, rising high into the sky, ready to take flight with screams of fright and shouts of delight, blasting riders into the night....:)

And we now have a launch tower!

Didn't take them long to get it up!

I just checked it and Liberty Launch is up! I'm really glad they went with the 80' Double Shot, it already looks TALL in the webcam shot, anything taller would have just ruined some of the harmonious balance in the park. (Translation: It just wouldn't look right)

It looks like the tower is still connected at the top to the crane, so its gone vertical put it hasn't totally been set in place yet.

I hardly recognized the Rough Riders building, but the spot where the crane now sits (between Liberty Launch and the BBQ stand looks like it is destined to become a queue area. (At least that would be my guess)

Was it just one big section they tipped up into place? I looked less than an hour ago before lunch and nothing, now its a whole tower.

I agree, Dave.

By going with the 80-foot model Holiday World has added a wonderful, thrilling new attraction without taking away from the overall atmosphere of the park. For the park that proved that you don't need to break records to build a world-class ride, Libery Launch will continue that tradition.

Not to mention that a Double Shot (at least the one at IB) is way more fun than the 'big ones.'

Are all the Double Shots as good as the one at IB?

Yes...it came all in one piece. Didn't look nearly as large when it was horizontal.

There's one more piece for the very top--we're waiting for the canvas covering with the Liberty Launch logo to be made before it all goes up.

Mrs. Koch says she wants to ride it -- she was out mingling with the media, wearing a Santa's hat.

Now that I think about it....Canobie Lake Park is very similair to HW. They installed a double shot this year, and could get a wave swinger for 2003.....and so is HW...How convienient....both are perfect family parks with the whole classic atmosphere and I think are very alike...anyone agree?

Be sure to stuff your ears with cotton -- she's a screamer! (As am I...we could easily deafen someone riding between us.)

That's *why* I was delighted to hear it was a Double Shot chris. They DO have some variation in the pressure upon launch, so they're not *identical rides*, but the short towers give some nice negative-G pops at the top...

Boy, that thing looks tall in comparison to the surroundings. I can't imagine what Power Tower or Drop Zone would look like in that atmosphere. :) Can't wait!

Gator - IB's Double Shot was the first S&S Tower I had been on, so you can probably guess that I was more than a little bummed out by the likes of Supreme Scream, Power Tower, etc.

Going up high is nice, but I want that *jolt* of air at the top!

The launch tower in Vancouver is pretty good, but is more floaty than jarring.

I wonder how Holiday World will run theirs?

Maybe they'll have a small switch labeled "Insane mode" installed.

I'm all for the shorter rides. Steph was blown away at the intensity of air on IOA's rides, which are similarly non-tall.

All one piece... wow. So I guess that means all of the installation of the internal pipes were taken care of upon arrival, eh? That's kind of nice!
