CP's smaller coasters

Just because a ride is boring to you doesn't mean it should be torn down..

MANY kids and families love DT. It's a great starter coaster and has a good place in the CP collection.

If all 15 coasters were like Millennium Force, attendence woulde probably be lower than it is now!

Really?! That's common sense...there would be nothing to ride for the people who don't like the big, extreme coasters.

When I was at Cedar Point back in '99, I personally found all of their smaller coasters to be great. I didn't get a ride on the Wildcat but I did like Iron Dragon, Corkscrew, and The Mine Ride enough to take numerous rides on them. I always will love Arrow coasters. As for Disaster Transport, it was very fun. I didn't know as much then as I know now about coasters and I was totally shocked to find out that it was a bobsled coaster. As for Blue Streak, I only got one ride because it had a longer line and we ran out of time, but it was one of the best wooden coasters I have been on, just as fun as The Racer at PKI.
Has anyone been on Disaster Transport yet this year? They changed it around completely. Like half of it is in the dark and it is a lot more thrilling, even if the ride itself is mild. I like it a lot better than the old one, because now it is a trip through Alaska. The only thing that they didn't change was track.

Magnum is red,
Millenium Force is blue,
I love Wicked Twister,
and Raptor too.

It has always been a trip to Alaska. BTW call me crazy but DT was a lot better as Avalanche Run.

Every time I ride DISASTER Transport, a door is open or something letting a lot of light in, but that isn't what ruins the ride. How many G's does it pull? 0.0000000382? It is slower than grandma driving to church on Sunday morning....come on. That's rediculous. Its incredibly boring. If I had to name the next coaster Cedar Point will demolish, it would definately be DISASTER Transport.

But that's just YOUR opinion. I like it. Sure, it's not anything to drop your lemon chill about and run to it to get in the front of the line, but it's a nice relaxing coaster. And that's just MY opinion :)

I like Iron Dragon and Disaster Transport a lot! 2 of my favorite rides at the park...call me crazy. I think they are fun and comfortable to ride and somewhat unique.

Yep, always has been a trip to Alaska. They haven't changed anything inside the ride this year, CedarPointNut. It used to have much more inside, they've just turned off many lights, sounds, and effects in recent years.

I remember when the alien spacecraft used to fire at the train, and then the part where the voice screamed "I'm losing control" and there was a big explosion on a video screen. Hardly anything that was originally part of the ride is there anymore. If it's there, it isn't used.

Anyone remember when it used to be this: http://www.coastergallery.com/CP/24.html Pic by your's truely :)

I personally enjoy DT and make a point to ride it ever time I go. But I usually will not ride it more than once or twice just because there is so much to do at CP. Another reason why I never give it repeat rides on one visit is the location, now that WT is over there this may change.

I don't know why anyone would want to demolish it, there aren't a whole lot of bobsled coasters around the US these days. I think that is a shame. It's the only one I've ever been on, I'd like to ride more. At the very least it adds to the terrific diversity of coasters that CP offers. If you want to tear something down look no further than that huge piece of timber in the rear of the park. But that's just my opinion.

I worked for the Point when DT opened. It was great ride, and all the theming worked for the good part of the summer. They took out some Q space, but the robotic shows were entertaining, as also the air conditioning was welcomed.

Granted it has changed, but people still like the build up to a larger coaster. Cedar Point tracks their rideership by the hour, and if any ride had substantial drops, they would adjust accordingly.

But they love the Iron dragon, the Corkscrew, and all the others. They were customed fit for the areas. The easiest ride to remove, (and this is just from an engineering standpoint) is the Magnum and the Gemini. But what would the Point be without them?

I am still immensely amazed at Woodstock Express. What a great ride hiding in Camp Snoopy!

Hey man. Wanna buy some weed? Crack? Freepass on Millennium Force? I got the hook up...

Blue Streak, Corkscrew, and Disaster Transport, I think are all underrated. I never thought much of Iron Dragon, I never liked it much. Joe Boxer, Gemini just seems underrated, actually, it's the most ridden coaster at the park, just happens to have the best ride capacity, that's why there's never any lines. All I can say is, I love every time Cedar Point adds another big ride, just shortens up the lines for other good rides. It's not even odd to seems Magnum right up to the station in the middle of a weekday anymore. And, yes, Raptor finally seems to be shortening up some. Last time I was there, I got on it in the middle of the day in ten minutes. Not bad.

I find Disaster Transport is best when it's the first ride you ride of the day, and you're body isn't yet used to all the motion.

I'm sorta sad that so much of the theming and humor and videos and effects are ignored now. It's almost like CP just treats it as a huge warehouse for storing stuff right now.

The line for this ride was always amazingly slow, though. It was painful when it was Avalanche Run. The theming made it almost tolerable as Disaster Transport. Now the line isn't so long, but even still, this ride just doesn't seem to have much capacity.
