CP's smaller coasters

I think that the smaller coasters at CP don't get the recognition that they deserve. The Iron Dragon and the Blue Streak are two great coasters, and you can ride them several times because they have such short lines. What do you guys think about CP's smaller coasters?
I personally love Disaster Transport...a lot of people say it isn't that big of a deal, but I think it's really fun.

Blue Streak is awesome, and I like Corkscrew in the back seat only - You really take off the first hill and the loop is small enough that you get a nifty view of the people in the rest of the train

I for one love the Iron Dragon and the Blue Streak, I just don't get to ride the Blue Streak much as my friends find it to be a "stupid old coaster."

If I don't arrive at CP early in the morning, and when I get there the park is already filled, I head straight for the Iron Dragon, it's a great coaster to get you warmed up for the day.

Another "small" but not really small coaster that doesn't get enough recognition at CP is the Gemini, this is seriously my 2nd favorite coaster after MF (I've yet to ride WT) at CP. The line for this coaster is always short, and if it's not short the line cruises. Sitting in the back on the Gemini is awesome! Especially on the first drop which delivers great airtime and a good head chopper, and throughout the whole ride, sitting in the back going through the hills, you're just whipped down them. Awesome coaster

Long live the Gemini at CP!

Welcome back riders, how was your ride...Enjoy your day, here at Cedar Point, America's roller coast.

I think they have a great collection of family coasters. My 8 year old daughter and I look foreward all year to our rides on Iron Dragon, Blue Streak, Wildcat, Woodstock Express and the mine ride. I put Gemini up in the Major category but it's also a fine coaster. If any one of these rides were at any other park, it would get much more praise.

When the lines are long for the big boys, I always grab several rides on Blue Streak and Iron Dragon. The Blue Streak is far better than Mean Streak IMO. And it felt like it was running better this year than the last time I visited in 1999. Iron Dragon is a nice, relaxing ride and since it's not too fast or thrilling I always just enjoy the cool rush of the air over my face. Of course this happens on every coaster, but usually I'm not paying much attention to it on coasters like MF, Magnum, Raptor, etc...

I also always seek shelter in the Disaster Transport line when the sun starts getting to me, man I love that ac. But this is generally not a ride that I will go on more than once or twice a visit. The same thing holds true for the Corkscrew, Wildcat and the mine train.

I don't consider the Gemini a 'small' coaster considering it was the tallest in the world when is opened. It is definately a great ride, but should not be considered in this particular thread.

The "smaller" coasters do get the recognition, just not from your normal 13-20 something who is more interested in big thrills than in family coasters.

Although I don't find Iron Dragon, Cedar Creek Mine Ride or Disaster Transport "thrilling", they are still enjoyable enough that I will ride them every trip.

I think Blue Streak is thrilling. It's a short ride, but it's fast and has nice little pops of airtime.

Trekker Park, if you can you and your daughter should come down to PKI they have a ton of great family rides for you:

The Racers

Top Gun (possibly)

Adventure Express

Scooby's Ghoster Coaster

Beastie

Rugrats Runaway Reptar.

Gemini is not a small ride! I think it's great fun, and with it's huge capacity you can always count on getting a few rides in no matter how crowded the park is. CP has a great coaster package, they have some milder rides that are fun, and allow people who aren't white knuckle thrill seekers to enjoy coaster thrills. Kind of like at a ski resort where you can find novice, intermediate and advanced runs.

Superdude: Do you really find Iron Dragon more thrilling than Wildcat? It looks tame but I think Wildcat delivers one of the wildest rides in the park.

Blue Streak caught us all off guard opening day. I mean, it was relatively outstanding, running better than it had in ages. It was so good I had to re-ride it, and I don't think I've ever done that on that ride.

That's good to hear. In my day the Blue Streak was the flagship coaster of the park. A classic out and back PTC with great pops of air on the return.

When I was at Cedar Point, I didn't even know Disaster Transport was a roller coaster. (That was WAY before I became the enthusiast I am now.)

Planned parks: Astroland, Knoebel's, Hersheypark, SFNE, SFGadv,SFGam,CP,PKI,PKD,PCW,HW,Indiana Beach,SFWOA,SFKK,SFDL,SFSTL,Lakemont,DelGrosso's... Need I say more?

What they could do to get more recognition is move them (like previously said) to another park in the chain, say Michigan's Adventure. They need to share the wealth, especially with the two coasters coming in the next two years. Oh wait, we're not supposed to know about that yet.....

Millrace, if my post would still be here maybe I could see what I wrote (Jeff...)or maybe by accident I deleted it. Jeff can you tell me? I don't know which I like better. I just made that category for the smaller coasters. I haven't been since 2000 and I didn't go on Wildcat that time so I only went in 1998 so I forgot.

I like all the coasters at CP, Corkscrew, Blue Streak, Iron Dragon, Gemini, they're all good. Blue Streak really did stand out, I had a lot of fun on the couple of rides I had last year. I also had a ride all to myself in the front near the end of the night which capped everything off.

I honestly don't care for Blue Streak, which is odd for me because classic out & backs are my favorite. Maybe it's the pinchy lap bars, maybe it's because the last couple of times I rode it it felt like my teeth were about to shake loose.

Disaster Transport, on the other hand, is one of my favorite rides in the park. I really don't know why it gets such a bad rap from you people. Sure the building is atrociously ugly, but the ride is great.

Last year, I enjoyed Corkscrew more than I have since it was new. I have no idea why this happened, but that day it was ultra-smooth, and even had a few good pops. (Even though I was kicked out of the station when I was next in line TWICE because it broke down, but I can forgive that.) This needs to be cloned more, boomerangs less.

As far as the others: Wildcat, I never met a Schwarzkopf I didn't like. Iron Draggin', I like the last 20 seconds, and I'll ride it only if it's a walk on. CCMR, the final helix is GREAT, too bad the first 2/3 is bo-ring but there's never a line, so I never miss it.

I like every coaster at The Point except for Wildcat, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, the kiddie coasters, and the worst of them all, DISASTER Transport.

WHY does Disaster Transport get such a bad review!?!?

Holy crap, almost everyone here says it sucks, and I love it. Are people scared of the dark or something?

Just because it's only 50 ft. tall or whatnot, doesn't mean it's a bad ride, (not that anybody said it was)

I've yet to read a good reason to why somebody doesn't like DT, everybody just says they don't like it, no reason why. If somebody would like to give me one I'd be glad to hear it.

I mean, everybody rides coasters to look for thrills........what's not thrilling about riding through a coaster in the pitch black! I mean, you cannot see where you are going at all, and I think that makes it all the more fun.

The queue could be better, but hey, they try. And Incidentalist, I totally agree w/ you - it's air conditioned!

When it gets hot there, DT fills up in a hurry

-----------------

Every time I ride DISASTER Transport, a door is open or something letting a lot of light in, but that isn't what ruins the ride. How many G's does it pull? 0.0000000382? It is slower than grandma driving to church on Sunday morning....come on. That's rediculous. Its incredibly boring. If I had to name the next coaster Cedar Point will demolish, it would definately be DISASTER Transport.
