I guess its just the angle of the camera, but it makes it look like CP's new coaster is going over vertical. I am really anxious for the official announcement. Does anyone know when that will be? hint Jeff ;)

I am sure that is just the track twisting out to the side.
On another note - can you believe the tower is still growing? I thought for sure the track would start rising above the tower anytime now.

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.
This has been brought up before. As cool as that would be, the track is still vertical. Two things contribute to this optical illusion. One, the track is twisting, so it appears to be curving inward, and second, you're seeing what's known as the fish-eye effect.
Also, beware of the flames to come from those who get their jollies out of ripping newbies to this site. (I'm assuming you're a newbie, but I could be way wrong).
Danimales,
You can check a person's profile by clicking on info next to their name. Fantom has been around for a while...since Feb. 19, 2001...

---Superman the ride...coming to a SF park near you soon...
As far as I am concerned, you are all newbies! ;) J/K
But yeah, I hope we get an announcement soon also.
It may be a illision (because it is difficult to judge height) but it does appear that the tower is now taller than Millie. The thing that has me puzzled is that at that height the track supports are now pushing the track away from the tower on both sides. I can't picture how this "top hat" element will work. I looked at XCELERATOR and it obvious that while there is a family resemblance this is another beast all together!
While I'm on the subject, on XCELERATOR the top hat extends well past the tower. If this is carried over on this ride we may be seeing a ride over 450'. If it takes 82 MPH to launch TO 205' on XCELERATOR, 100MPH to get us 330' up the tower on SFMM'S Superman what will it take to launch a car over 450'?
450' yeah good one Mike. Reeeal funny there turbo I think a lot of folks have kind of guessed that 120 sounds like it'd be about right for this thing. Now whether they're even close or not is a different matter altogether.
Personally, I don't really care when the announcement is but just looking at the web cam makes me long for spring

Coming in 2003-The Spawn Of Magnum!
Ode to the offseason:
Offseason Offseason what shall I do? Who cares the sun is still shining the sky is still blue! GET A LIFE!
It is about 310' to 320' right now.
I got this picture from www.cpthrillology.com (hope Dan doesn't mind) , put it into photoshop and lined em up. The top of the black lines are the highest point on the towers.
The tower for #16 and Power Tower are almost exactly lined up with each other so it is a good way to compare.

Terry - Power Tower is 300 feet (top of the arches), but the actual ride is 240'

The supports will follow the tower to the top. If you look at the track for the top of the tophat, you see connectors. These will most likely be for a walkway along the top of the tophat (there are walkways onsite). With a walkway up there, maintenance would have to be able to get to it somehow.

looking at this picture of CP, its skyline is looking more and more like the fake one used for Walley World (which at the time looked quite cartoony).
Looking at the photo brian had it looks like Millenium Force is like 340. So I believe that Power Tower is a little off I think it is more like 280.
