CP Freeway (virtual queue) Expanding

Lord Gonchar's avatar
Just looking in the new 2003 Getaway Guide and it mentions that Freeway will be available for TTD, MF, Magnum, Mantis, Raptor and Wicked Twister.

Looks like the virtual queue has a firm root planted at Cedar Point.

yeah, but you can only get one Freeway per day, so how much is this really gonna help with the lines?

if you could get one per hand per day (two) or one per coaster per day, it might make a real difference...

I was just thinking about last year...

The stamps were used up very quickly. I figure that it will be the same for TTD & MF, but will the "losers" that don't get stamps from these two head over to the other coaster and get stamps there?

If they don't then the lines for stamps will be open all day and people like "us" (stamp users) won't be able to benefit from the orphan stamps.

Thoughts...

What's the point of putting it on Magnum? While every train does leave full, the actualy wait is rarely more than 30 minutes.

Freeway is a great program and I definatly used my MF stamp last year to hop a 2 hr wait, twice (different days). As for the "orphans" CP GP are fickle and hard to understand, by the time I was there (Aug) they had realized that Wicked Twister was just a "one trick" coaster and MF was the real thing, so the line was 30 min for WT in the middle of the day and back to 2000-2001 levels (2+ hrs) at MF. With TTD this year, it is also a "one trick" coaster but its trick is far better then WT so who knows where the crowd will be come late summer.

Im glad to see CP planning ahead because if crowds stay with TTD (which is my guess but who knows) then the stamp for Magnum will be definatly appricated because Im sure her lines will jump to 1 1/2 hrs (99 levels) but if the crowds go back to MF then it will have the 2+ hrs and Mantis 1 1/2 hrs. WT has a low capacity so thats a good idea, and finally Raptor thanks to its location is always a good idea. I do agree with sentiments listed above that I wish they would allow us two stamps per day (with the requirement that they would be different rides) to swallow up unused stamps.

maybe they're thinking that there will be lots of crowd overflow from TTD...

you know..."OMG the line for Dragster is four hours...lets go ride Magnum instead. it's right there..." kind of thing.

it aint the size of the arrow, its what you do with the bow

I really dont undestant the whole Freeway thing. Ok, I go get a stamp for MF, and it tells me a time to go back. What? Do I just walk past everyone else waiting in line. Please explain if you can.

They have a seperate entrance where you merge with the rest of the queue past most of the line.

From what I remember last year on MF you enter at the bottom of the ramp (20-30 min wait) and on Raptor you enter at the bottom of the stairs (15-25 min wait) I dont remember where WT entered.

Does the general public usually get angry?

Not so angry that they start rioting and breaking things... Last year right at 11:00 I was right in front of the merge point of MF and a whole lot of people got in front of me. I was a little angry, but it really didn't affect my wait all that much.

I think that Freeway is an awesome idea, but I still think its a little flawed. Last year I rarely got to the park when it first opened. I usually went during the mid-afternoon or at night, and of course, they were always out of freeway stamps by then. But of course, I guess everything can't be perfect.

I'm actually cuious to see how TTD is going to affect Magnum and if Freeway is really going to be needed for it. I've already figured that the Magnum walk-ons from 10-noon are going to be almost non-existant... at least for a few years.

No it is more like envy. A ride attendant lets you in so it looks official and not everyone shows up at the same time and the numbers are small enough that only 4-5 people "cut" at a time,
so there are no problems.

i thought you could get one stamp per ride per day.....
Q: On Magnum will they, when it gets slow, let everybody in through the Freeway entrance? :)

--Dave Althoff, Jr.
Who thinks on occasion they should have done that with Raptor last season...

They say you can only get one stamp per day but I'll tell you right now they wash off pretty easy. As long as your ride time is early sometimes you can get a second stamp be fore they run out.
I was wondering how the Freeway entrance will work at Magnum also. My guess is it might go from the "express" entrance (normal entrance to most people) around the back on the vending machines and merge at the last row of queues.

As for lines at the ride, I expect that the same thing will happen to Magnum as happened to Mantis in 2000. The only difference is we have much better capacity and most people don't even know what an hour and a half line looks like on Magnum. It's something on the order of all regular queues full, all long queues (behind the bathroom) full, and a line on the midway back to Hats 'n' Such. Regular queues full is around 45-50 minutes. Long queues full probably adds 15-20 minutes. The only time I know of long entrance being used in recent years was when MF's cable broke in 2001 on Labor Day weekend. We never opened long in July or August of 2001.

I think Mantis could use it, as for the others, I just don't know how long the waits will get. Raptor at some times in the day is almost walk on, and mostly the same with magnum.

MDOmnis I specifically remember waiting in a full queue (minus the long queues that disapear to God knows where) and it was 1 1/2 hrs with no mechanical problems. However, there was no attendant working the enterance to the station so maybe this delayed me...

Sorry to be so nit-picky :) Also, how far back do those long queues go, no matter how hard I try I cant see the end from the normal line?
