CP 5/12 America's Windy RollerCoast

Associated parks:
None

I drove up to my Parents place in Ashtabula county Sunday morning after work for Mothers day. I spent the day there and had a good time. Monday morning, despite the weather, I headded out to Cedar Point in hopes of riding TTD.

I arrived at the park a little after nine and entered at 9:30 with my Joe Cool Club pass. TTD was down because of the wind, so I jumped on the Cork Screw for a quick ride. Two people on the whole train.

Next, I took a quick shot on the Power Tower and then headed to Mantis. It was a two train wait for the front, but the next group only had 3 riders so I jumped on. No trim brakes today and it just seemed to be running fast. Maybe it was just because it was my first trip of the year. I jumped back in line and got the front again with a one train wait. After my forth ride, I decided to see what else was running.
I jumped on the train and went back to see if Mean Streak was running (Millennium was down). MS was down also. I started to walk back to see if Magnum or the Gemini were running. Both were down.

Then I saw it. I thought that I caught a glimpse of the Dragster going down the tower. I started to run. When I arrived, people in line said that they were just testing. The ride ops said that it would likely be down all day. Then we heard the brakes come down and a train launched. Wow! That is incredible. I stayed and watched several launches, but the ride did not open.

I walked up to the front of the park to see if Raptor had opened, It hadn't. I took a few rides on the Blue streak and then went over to the WT. It was running, but I'm still too fat to fit into the seats.

I took a few rides on Chaos and then went to Disaster Transport. After that, I went back out to my truck and got my camera. I got a lot of nice pics of TTD.

The wind let up a little, but none of the other rides ever opened. I took lots of rides on Mantis, Power tower and the Blue Streak.

On one of my last rides on Mantis, I rode with a gentleman from the UK. He was wrapping up a two weak trip here in the States. Monday and Tuesday were his last two days here and he was spending them at The Point. I sure pray that the rides opened up for him Tuesday.

Sounds like your day at CP was "weak" as well. ;) Sorry for that. Here's hoping I don't get reamed on my trip out in 10 days. You know.... because I am such a nice guy.

Holy crapola! Sony might be the ultimate destination!

You shouldn't talk lol. Good TR, I ran into the same winds at SFGAm and they had almost everything closed as well.

Sounds alot like sunday too, They opened ttd for about 2 hours or so but there was a 3 and a half hour wait

AHHHHHHHH!

Sorry about the spelling. I forgot to mention that the fifth car was back in the trains. Back up to 16 passengers. There were only five trains though. One was getting fitted with some metal brackets, maybe to mount some cameras or something. Two of the trains were testing. They had the water dummies strapped in. Every time that they would launch a test train, people would come running to see if it was open. I think that CP was just teasing us :)

CP_ ismyhome - that gentlemen was me! Small world hey.

Yes we did get on Dragster on tuesday, as well as every other coaster in the park apart from Junior Gemini. What an amazing day. Dragster = my number one coaster now.

I had a dream about Top Thrill Dragster. It was that it had just opened from wind and the line was only like 15 minutes. So I waited and right when I got in the station one ride away from on it that it had a rollback due to wind and it closed for the rest of the day. Uhhg.
MAN, I really shouldn't talk! Can't spell myself!

Great to hear that the coasters opened up and that you were able to ride them Chris. I hope that you enjoyed your trip. Hopefully, I'll have better luck this Monday and will be able to get on the Dragster.

It happens to us all, I guess -- though it bears noting that "weak" wouldn't be flagged in a raw spell check. Grammar is a different story entirely.

We all have brain cramps from time to time.

I actually meant grammer check, I must have had one of those brain cramps at the time

So all of the current 5 trains have 5 cars?
Yes. I do not know where the sixth train was. Maybe they were adding the fifth car to it.
