Could someone explain Six Flags Gold Fast Passes to me

it essentially reduces the cost of the FlashPass by 20%.

I don't want it to be cheaper. I want it to be so expensive that less people will justify using it, therefore less people cutting in front of me. :)

And it only reduces the cost if you use flash pass exactly 5 times (or whatever the amount is). I've been to 3 parks a total of about 7 or 8 times this season and still haven't found the need for flash pass on any of them.

That seems pretty typical given my own experiences, Andy.

It was almost useful for me when I went to Six Flags St. Louis. But then, I only had four long waits (1 each on Evel, Screamin' Eagle, B-TR, and Ninja), left the park and returned after dinner to no waits, returned the next day to no waits, and got more laps on two of the aforementioned coasters. I'd really only need it on a crowded day at one of the megaparks, but I'm pretty sure I can time my visits to avoid waits.

I did use a Q-bot once at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2003. Say what you will, but that thing was awesome. I swear by Q-bot, even though I've been wonderfully adept at avoiding visiting parks on days when it's necessary. This Gold one now has me contemplating visiting a park on a painfully crowded day just to admire its effectiveness at eliminating waits for me. ;)

Sirloindude, who thinks Gonch's avatar should be a promotional poster for Lo-Q.

For me it also comes down to the fact that we are traveling 8 hours each way to get to a park. For an extra $150 we can get our fill of rides in rather then spending the day in any kind of line. Now if was your home park that you go to a dozen times a year that would be a very different story.

I normally don't go to SFMM in July but I did this year since I knew the Gold Q-bot would allow me to have a great day even if the park was packed, which it was. On most days , a regular would be enough, if you need one at all. But in the middle of summer vacation, the gold allowed me to get on as many rides, 36 total, if not more, than I usually do, when the park is not crowded. On my next visit I will get the regular, and I plan to do that on just about every visit, except for school days, since the $15 discount I get makes the price too good to pass up.

My mother (1946-2009) once asked me why I go to Magic Mountain so much. I said I feel the most alive when I'm on a roller coaster.
2010 total visits: SFMM-9, KBF-2
2010 total ride laps: 437
