Contribution time

Hi!

I contributed my site to Coasterbuzz a little over a week ago, and I still haven't seen it in the database yet. I'm just wondering, how long does it usually take for you guys to review it?

"Me guy" looks at them at least twice a week.

I looked at yours and saw broken images, a screwed up Java applet and a frameset that doesn't look right in any browser. Why would I want to send anyone to that?

You don't see it because I deleted the submission. Several times.

Well, it should work in 1024x768, but I'm working on everything else, so I'll submit it again when the site's running full blast.
Mmm. Frontpage. Web development for dummies. ;) Sorry, I tried using frontpage once, and all it did was screw up my code. Oh yeah, aren't you cpnut? I thought you left a while ago?

EDIT: Running it in a different resolution won't solve your broken image and/or applet trouble. Besides, I thought sites on the coasterBuzz database were sites full of rich content and good design. I don't see either at thepointofcedars.tk. :) *** Edited 12/29/2004 3:46:13 AM UTC by MarimbaGuy87***

I've often wondered from time to time, how to write good poetry- and make it all... Work.
Maybe Strong BAd can help him out with some pointer on a website. I must admit that site is more than I can do so I can't really talk.
yeah, the 'puters in StrongBadlia run much, ehhhhh, differant. Maybe Trogdor could help!

Please do not use frames on a website... they are horrible!! If you set the resolution to anything but 1024 x 768 you get a crappy layout because it will not adjust to the size of the page.

There are a few other cosmetic adjustments that should be made. There are such things as Cascading Style Sheets to make your site consistent looking. If you're going to have changing information at least use some sort of a database to hit up against.

I understand that its just an ametuer page, but if you want get your site noticed, you need to make it easy to use and attractive to the user.

Hopefully that'll help as to why Jeff has deleted your submission because it is just not up to standards on what a page providing information should be. Take this all for what its worth, I only mean this to be constructive.

I'm working on getting rid of the frames. I can't explain the broken images though.

Also, MarimbaGuy, it's .com now, not .tk.

Ohhhh I see it now. Having .com instead of .tk automatically makes the site cool. How could I have missed that?

That's cool.com for all of those playing along at home ...

Once a tool, always a tool ...

MarimbaGuy, do you really think I care what you think?
I shudder when I remember trying to design with FrontPage... All versions prior to the latest one made using stylesheets almost impossible. I tried going the route of creating templates with FrontPage, but the software sets it up in frames which makes it impossible for anything to look right. Another vote to go CSS from me.

That strongbad clip is great! I completely forgot about those. It's just as good as the 'forum rules' one posted a while back.

I use that resolution and I get a very unreadable site. sorry.
No, but I don't really think anyone cares about your site either. I was just stating a point. I have to wonder though, cpnut: WHY do you keep coming back?

What can I say?

- A laptop could board Riptide, vomit HTML on the sidewalk and it would still look better.

- A team of 1000 monkeys on keyboards would simultaneously stop banging on them just to beat the hell out of the chimp that coded that page.

- Too weak for ARN&R, let alone the 4th grade?

I'm still shaking my head. Wow.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Ah, this reminds me of good old times..... I'm having a hard time not referencing a website of a well known eating establishment :)

As a former accomplished Web designer, I know that all designers have been at that level at some point.

Give the Guy credit for trying. His site is not yet at the level that Jeff would list it, But that does not mean we should rip it, or "Top Thrill Dragster" apart.

Top Thrill Dragster,

While I admire your ambition to design/Program your website. I would caution you about using the phrase, "The Point of Cedars is the internet's greatest source for Cedar Point information." I am sure many people would take issue with that because, frankly, your website is not yet what you claim it to be now. Perhaps, if you stick with this project, it will be one day though.

And since Peabody did not reference it, I will. Almost every person I know who has some knowledge of web Design knows that Arbys.com is the worst designed corporate restaurant site on the web.

You weren't lying about Arby's. I could probably design that myself. As bad as I am. And TTD, keep trying. Web site design is not easy, I tried and threw the guide at the computer and almost broke my screen.

Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.

It has been awhile since anyone took a stab at the S&S Site. Why don't we give the kid a break and rip on that instead?

Jeff - Editor - CoasterBuzz.com - My Blog

Ugh...I hate that site.

Do they let the local school kids design their site as well as test out their prototypes?
