Construction photos from Carowinds and Kings Island posted on XPP

PKI's Tomb Raider entrance is complete. Two photos from inside the ride's structure still don't reveal the mystery of the ride.

As for Carowinds, construction on Carolina Boardwalk is ongoing. They have totally revamped the area, destroying two buildings and redoing several things. They will add a virtual ride, a pay-per-experience ride, called Cyber Sez. Ricochet is physically done, but there still is a lot of work to do around the ride.

Not to be crude, but seriously.  Cyber SEZ?  SEZ?

Wow, that entrance looks awesome. Does anyone know if it was carved out of one big honkin rock or if it was formed using that fake stone crap that they use on "adventure golf" courses and, say, giant drop's queue?

Is it the roar of Kumba or the kumba of Roar? Discuss!

Of course it's fake... when would an amusement park ever create something out of real stone?

I knew it was fake but does it feel real? I've never had the chance to actually tough the fake stuff used for projects like this.

It's his turn to feast, when you ride the Son of Beast.

Its concrete.  Its gotta be.  Just like any other amusement park project like this.  Its not like its made out of Nerf.
This is one attraction I can't wait to experience. My mouth is watering. Anyone up for a side trip after SRM?

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?
The front of my house is made out of concrete made to look like real stone.  It feels just like the real thing.  You'll never be able to tell the difference except the concrete stone is a heck of a whole lot lighter than the real thing.

It's nice to see a lot of progress going on both parks. Man, won't the 2002 season just start ALREADY?!

As for the rocks, of course they are fake, but I like the way they put symbols around--very detailed theming, no?

The "inside" photos appear to be part of the queue with something on the sides. I saw artifacts from the concept art that would be in the place of the sides--that'd be awesome to walk through!

As for Carowinds, mmm--Cyber Sez! Yes, seriously, Cyber Sez... Man, I gotta try that! ;) ;)

Time for me to go, catch y'all later!

Is this a couple rides in one or something?  It looks like a vehicle takes takes you through that area.

Cyber Sez jump up and down

Sit!

Your it.

As I've said before, if you'll notice in the last photo, the one in the queue.  You will notice that on both sides of this underground part of the queue, there is a bit of a drop off on each side.  Might there possibly be water, or maybe even faux fire effects...?  The water surrounding the queue would make it feel very cave like.

Evidently, Cyber Sez is the VR system by Ham on Rye which will also be going into PKI, PCW, PKD, and a few Six Flags parks as an upcharge attraction. I have no clue if it will be of the same name, but I think the first one in operation to the public was at SFoG last season.
I also noticed some things in these pics that I have had for a week now:

1) For those who dont know this (i have gotten away from posting on this board, and not up to date on what you guys know or not) the model shows that there is a part that is underground. This is due to piling up of dirt around the area.

2) Anyone else notice how nice the Vortex is? I have seen it in person (4x this week and PKI is about 30 miles out of my way) and it looks awesome. Also, the cars are getting a nice paintjob.

Cyber sez "how many damn pay per  experience attractions does carowinds have now?"  pretty soon there will be more pay experiences than free ones and this is after the $39 entry and the $7  to park and walk to the gate

answer:  I can think of 8 pay per experience attractions   sky coaster, cyber sez, climbing wall, flight school, mini golf, motion simulator, virtual reality(the old one near white water falls),lazer tag

Is the Ham on Rye a definite for PKI? And if so, do you know where it will be?

Will, EXCELLENT work.  Really enjoyed meeting you and your mom, hope to see you guys at a park this summer...

As for the "upcharge" attractions, I lump them together with the FastPass/FastLane/Lo-Q and the on-site guest "special operating hours".  They are just ways for the park to increase revenue...the only problem I have with all of these ideas is the staffing they seem to take away from the normal flats/coasters included in the POP...

ColumbusCoaster: Yes, the Ham on Rye is a definite for PKI. The park that's not receiving one (only four out of five Paramounts are getting them) is--not suprisingly--Great America. Sorry, y'all Northern Californians!

Thanks, rollergator, for your compliments. Yes, I'd love to meet up again and have more fun.

As for future updates, look for 2001 pictures from PKI thanks to Kennywood Boulevard's webmaster, Joe Cernelli (I wanted to put it off until my new gallery code was operating properly, but it seems to be forever, so I'm probably gonna put them up over the weekend or next weekend, and make the switch to new code later). Terra Mitica section is way off schedule, but I'm working on it... working on way too many things at the same time.
