Congrats to SFWoA

If SFWoA does build a hyper coaster, they have to build on the wildlife side of the park. I know this sounds funny, but Aurora set the height restrictions a long time ago, when WoA was Geaga Lake and Sea World. They didnt expect to have any big rides at Sea World, but they set the height limit at 180 ft. which is the tallest ride right now. They can only build it on the Wildlife side.
Yeah I wish they would get zoning already so they could build a hyper, although a 180 ft coaster wouldn't be bad either. Who knows what SFWoA will do in the coming years. Just look at the debt that Six Flags is in as a whole. There might never be another coaster at SFWoA........ Where would they put it anyway?? All the space is basically filled in the rides section and animal groups would be outraged if they took out the animals. I think what they really should do is disassemble everything in the park and then rearrange it to make some more space.

At any rate a hyper would be really awesome at Six Flags no matter where they built it.

Correction - First the park had already planned on building the hyper coaster on the Life side a long time ago. Second, Bainbridge Township agreed to raise the height limit to 210 feet in exchange that the park won't build rides in certain areas of the Life side.

Not all of the Wild Life side is located in Aurora.

X Factor

Actually I would say about 75% of the park is in Bainbridge. However, I am not sure if the 210 hieght is for the whole park inside of Bainbridge or just for the one ride.

SFWoA TL 2003!

Ok, let's see. The county line cuts into the ride side around the wave pool, past the end of the Big Dipper, through Hooks across the lake, just south of the old aquarium through the Lakeside (which is funny because the Lakeside is in Aurora and the employee cafeteria is in Bainbridge, all out of the same building), between the marine gate and the dolphin pool and into the parking (most of the main lot is in Aurora and the VIP parking in Bainbridge). I would wager that the park lies 80% in Bainbridge if not more. Then take into the amount of land undeveloped it is a much higher percentage in Bainbridge. All park development will be in Bainbridge unless (1) they build into the marine parking lot, (2) they purchase the houses at the top of the hill between the park and 43, (3) they gut the marine side and redevelope. But the company shows little interest in redeveloping anything.

Bainbridge has had a varied height limit on the park for some time until the past year. All of the Townships decisions are based on what will or won't bother their residents so, in return for land not to be developed to the north eastern part of the parks land, the township will allow for higher development in other areas. The land in the ride side of the park within Aurora has that 180' limit, but no ride in that area of the park is anywhere near that height. The tallest coaster being Batman is firmly in Bainbridge and takes advantage of a elevation difference to allow for the greater height. The Skyscraper was built prior to height restrictions (but that too is in Bainbridge). The land on the marine side of Aurora never had any height restrictions because SWO was unable to build traditional amusement rides. As such Aurora is trying to determine how to best deal with the evolving situation. But as in the past i doubt that the city will do anything the park would like. I believe that because GLP has always won a court case with the township concerning development that the township has taken a friendlier stance with the park. If you can't beat them, join them.

After reading meangene's post it got the gears turning in my mind. My parents were on our trip also and said that SWO's old park lot was just sitting there vacant. Could this be a possible spot for expansion? And another question, that little piece of land beside the water park, who owns it? I think I read in another post that it was owned by some housing group, but I'm not sure.

My mind works in strange ways. Yeah with a chain driven lift hill and gravity.

If SFWOA is in fact progressing this year, I can't say enough about how great this park could become. A CP/SFWOA combo at next year's Con could be mindblowing.

The fact that SF marketing have learned their lesson regarding comparing themselves to Cedar Point can only help as well. I never wanted this park to be at all better or worse than CP, only what it is...different.

Hasn't the Cp/WoA combo been confirmed?

Also, the plan (according to a high up) is/was to gradually expand into the rides parking lot, since it is the worst for traffic, right on 43, and looks the worst. The plan was started in 2001, with X-Flight, and eventually there will only be one entrance, once the ride:life ratio is evened out.

As for next year, it will be huge, with a hyper, Lost World, and a possible 12th coaster, the con should be great.

Dont get your hopes tooooo high lol. A 12th coaster??? Where are you hearing this stuff?

Ive heard rumors for a racing/dueling GCI Lightning Racer type coaster....but that vanished within a month. Then I heard the hyper rumor. That one seemed very true but then went dead this year because of the declining attentance....

Someone tell me all of the rumors for next year, lol. I need to get in on this again.

A 12th coaster, not a hard concept; figuring they have 10. Basically, 2 coasters for next year. This information would be from a high up

So a higher up would just go and tell you everything the park is planning to do over the next few years?

I'm not sure who exactly OWNS the land next to the old Bathhouse, but it is only for the use of the Aurora residents in the neighborhood across 43. The park has tried to aquire that land before, but the powers that be will not part with it.

A new coaster would only happen if the park preforms. That's just the way that SFI does things. If numbers improve this season, then it would be a possibility.

I have proof that Sfwoa will be getting a megacoaster for 2004. go to ************.com then go to ride manufactureres then go to intamin then scroll down to megacoassters and sfwoa is listed for 2003 but it wont be built until 2004. VEEEEERRRY hot news

The small piece of land behind the Ballroom and Stingray speed slides belongs to the residents of the area around the park. It has been an important part of the neighborhood for many years and the residents are not willing to give it up. Even if the park did own that piece of land, there really isn't much that they could do with it since it is rather close to Route 43.

As for 12 coasters, I don't see SF duplicating what they did in 2000 by adding more than one coaster in one year. If they were, for example, planning it, I could see the hyper and maybe a Wild Mouse of some sort added. But I would like to see more major thrill rides like PKI's Delirium and PCW's Shock Wave added to the park.

So far I have been very pleased with the park and how it has performed. I have a feeling this will be a great year compared to the past few.

It's easy to preform well if there isn't anyone in the park.
Try telling that to SFKK...

Damn, the park isn't seeing many people again this year? I so want this place to do well! I am visiting May 28 and am looking forward to it as I usually do. If my visit last year was any indication, I will have a blast again.

I'm even taking time out from the coasters to hit the water park -- I *never* do that! It's just that this waterpark, with its new slides, looks very fun, so I figure a few hours can be had there.

Top Thrill Dragster -- The most intense, unbelievable, and spectacular fifteen seconds on any coaster, anywhere, ever.

I was in the neighborhood on Sun and i'd bet there was less than 15000 in park. If not less then 10000. Granted it's still early, but what did CP pull in yesterday??

Damn, if they are only pulling in numbers like that, I need to make a trip out there soon. Just like Legendary, I to enjoyed my visit there last year.
