Confirmed: S&S woodie for SFEV!!

Jeff and Mark, I agree with both of you .. but deciding what is or isn't public, is not our decision to make. ('Our' meaning 'plebeans on the outside'!). I have been on the other side of the fence, and was burned by someone who made the same assumption (not badly burned .. but still!).

I just thought it was worth mentioning (since there are many kids on this site .. let them start learning the good habits at a young age ;) ).

Honestly Moosh, why did you have to get PFF going on Valleyfair again?

Funny, I never seen anything that said SFEV or even that it was a coaster?????????????

My thoughts exactly, Jeff. Why would an HR person be involved with a coaster? Furthermore, why would such a small company even have an HR person? They can't have more than a dozen people working there.

I don't really think S&S is a small company seeing as they have one of their rides at nearly every major park, and some even have multiples. It does seem a little odd someone would give out information on a new ride before it has even been anounced though.

Well, I don't know if this is confirmed for sure yet, but http://www.proudlock.org/tpa/ has the announcement on their site as well.

Rob....interesting tidbit from the TPA site...."One of the first of its wooden roller coasters will be at Enchanted Village / Wild Waves."

Now, the English major in me (no jokes, please) read...."One OF the first"....seems to indicate that Stan C. may have ANOTHER coaster in the works for '03, OR (the bad news) this may not be an '03 coaster....

Any ideas....anyone?

First Drop said that Stan hinted at a possible 2-3 woodies for '03 in America at the media event for their new product line. On a side note, they (first drop) also had new info about Arrow's revised 4-d design for the trains and track. Interesting stuff!

So Peabody....are you going to release the other *tidbits* from First Drop in this same *slow drip* fashion....perhaps we're going to nickname you Mister Coffee...;)

edit: D'oh, almost forgot, love the new sig...;)

Well, I can't remember THAT much....I read it in a sleepy stupor on a long bumpy plane flight yesterday, but I guess they really redesigned the 4th demension from the ground up and were vocal about using an air launched one. The trains are much more narrow and the track is lacking the 3rd and 4th rails that X has to control rotation. The rotation is now controlled by a rail resting directly above the box spine/under the chassis of the train.

Oh, they also made the trains MUCH shorter. They only have 4 cars now if I remember correctly. To fix capacity both from before and as a result of the smaller trains they will load/unload like a wild mouse where 4 trains will load/unload while constantly moving conveyor-belt style.

I hope it works!

edit: Oh, and Deniese hinted at the possibility of a launched woodie.

Launched woodie? Isn't that the new M:TR? Or was that lunched?

I wonder if Dennis McNulty has designed the new S&S woodie for the next season? As he's back from designing bridges and now working for S&S...

I just want to know if those plans are from S&S or a "previous" builder....

Thanks olov....just reminded me WHICH engineer from the old CCI we saw working at the S&S booth...it was Dennis McNulty! I remember being surprised to see him there, 'cause I didn't know that S&S had hired any of CCI's engineering team. Considering his other work, EV should be getting a winner.

bill, hoping it's ready come August, fingers crossed...

What was the build time frame for Raven or Legend? This might give us some inside idea of August even being a possibility. Somehow, I don't think the ride is happening this year, but oh how I would love to see it. :)

Well, not having ridden Boss, but hearing it might tear the *** out of me, I will gladly submit my posterior to the forces that build such demonic devices. It can't be as intense as Coaster at PNE at any rate.

www.tripowered.com - what's the world coming to?
I wonder if it will be CCI Like or Arrow like woodie.

(...smacks hand on forehead...) Did you not read your own thread earlier telling you this?

The answer: CCI. Why - Arrow has never constructed a wooden coaster. Gemini has tubular steel rails identical to those on Magnum, corkscrew, etc. It is a steel coaster. Arrow calls it a steel coaster. CP calls it a steel coaster. Coasters are determined by their rails, not the support structure. This is why coasters like Villain are wooden, not steel. Get it? Any questions?
