Confirmed off-season work at CF/SF parks

I know everyone wants a Hyper...but why? Take out the whole he said/she said business. Is a Hyper what this park really needs right now? CF has been improving the infrastucture and adding several different attractions to help bring the park into the "CF" style (if it can be called that). All those improvements are necessary to bring the park to the next level.

One comment stated that if they did add a Hyper, the attendance would double. Do you have any idea what that type of attendance boost would actually do to a park? Take a park that has 400,000, double it to 800,000 in the course of one year. Where would they park, eat, relieve themselves? Would you want to wait for more than an hour to ride every ride in the park? What would they do at night with limited park lighting? (and yes...I know the attendance would not double)

I think CF has been on the right track in making the improvements they have. Sure, some of them were hand me downs...but I'd rather have hand me downs over nothing. I just feel this should be looked at objectivley. Is the park in it's current state able to handle the impact a hyper would create? I don't think it is. Would the hyper generate enough ROI to make the investment pay off in a reasonable amount of time? Currently, probably not. You would have the boost in attendance, but limited places for all those guests to eat, shop, and play games...all which helps add to ROI.

I just hope CF continues to upgrade the park and it's facilities, and I think they will. I do not forsee a hyper within the next few years for the previously mentioned reasons. There are much more suitable additions that could be made for the $10 million plus hyper (Morgan) . Things like a mid sized theatre for some good shows, a 1 or 2 tower complex, Camp Snoopy (please get rid of winky the wale!), new restaurants, a mid sized coaster (wood or steel...used even).

I know MiA is already a great park, but one should not take too big of steps...you may end up like some very unfortunate parks have.

Pay attention to what he's saying, MiA fans.

WOF is the second-smallest CF park in terms of attendance and potential audience size. They got a Morgan hyper...and then what? They never got another cap budget that size.

Besides, in the late 90s, there weren't many hypers around. When VF got WT, SFGAM didn't have a hyper. There was no Nitro, no RB, nothing like them in their respective markets. They were still quite the novelty and that's no longer true.

With the depressed economy and major parks to the east and west, a 'world-first' would be a bigger draw than a coaster that's merely big. Something unique to the area like a Setpoint Swing Thing or a racing Screaming Squirrel.

Well put Matt,

You really explained what I was thinking.

Important to note that whatever promises, comments, statements, etc. that were made by *RJ* regarding a hypercoaster are no longer applicable once the CF label goes outside the front gate...they are not about to fulfill *promises* they didn't make....once it makes $ense for CF to build a coaster at MiA, it will come...

"How long is it gonna take for me to get my $10M back, anyway"...that was a true CBuzz classic....

Matt - I saw that "attendance would double" comment and laughed at it, too. Perhaps the number of enthusiasts who go to the park would double, but I'd think a 5% increase is probably more reasonable.

If I was the one who said "attendance would double" i'm terribly sorry. I don't want attendance to double either, I like being able to walk up and get on timbers.

As for the hyper, I think the park could do well without it. They could do numerous other things, like redesign the kiddie area to make it like Camp Snoopy, or add the new midway. A million things could make MiA better, a hyper was just on the top-10.
