CONFIRMED! B&M for WOF in 2006

Here come the cloned station haters to join the near-clone coaster haters. ;)

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

^Silver Bullet's queue for the front holds about 12 or so people if I had to guess. Usually, the amount of people waiting for the front goes beyond the railings set up for that row, but its not too disruptive.

At least Knott's didn't make SB's front seat queue like Xcelerator's! Talk about excessive and slow moving!

Mr. Kinzel said on the Podcast that this ride doesn't exactly fit with WOF's budget, but it was a needed addition. Basically, the station clone was a way to pinch pennies.
The station is not exactly the same as it appears WOF's will be a lot more streamlined without all of the additional "thingies" on the roof like SB's has. All WOF's will have are the window "thingies" on side whereas SB's has quite a few more. Also like mentioned above, SB's station is off the ground a little more (though that is to accomidate the space issues they had with the ride).

Going off what gomez said, that is one of the reasons they picked this particular location for the ride. Very little ground work had to be done, which helped to hold down the building costs. Mamba went way over budget and I would imagine they are trying really hard to not have that happen again.

The best news though is that Halloweekends is expanding again next season. More info on that later.

Wierd question, but why do all of the Tee-shirts with the Patriot eagle and logo on them show what looks like a boomerang loop on them? Why not show the actual loop of the ride.
Chris, why didn't you just post your question on the other Patriot thread that was just down the page instead of bringing back this old one like Richard said?

P18, I'm not sure. Perhaps that was what they had to work with at the time. Those shirts came out the same time the ride was announced. Why they didn't use one of the other coasters from the chain or even the concept art is beyond me. However the newer ones do not have the Arrow style track in the background.

They probably used the boomerang because 99% of the people who buy them will never notice, nor care.
OMGZ, They make PAtroit outz off left overs of SB, and Talin!

Ok, some people do not get that yes, it has some elements of Talon, but look, is it a clone? No, and the theme of the station will fit the area well, so I like it no matter what the haters say.

its in the woods.........
Some people don't feel like they have had a successful day unless they complain about something. Take elementary female teachers for example *groan* Can hardly wait until the elementary part of my internship is over. :(
We have now posted a report from a recent Q&A with Nick Guevel, PR Mgr for WOF, on the progress of the projects as well as other events that will be occurring at WOF this coming season on MiG.

We scored some pic for the first train being installed yesterday.

I like the yellow on the bottom of the trains. That will definitely stand out as the navigate the course.

Two things I noticed:

It appears as though the first and second cars are permanently linked together, as I suspected. We had a discussion in another thread about why the first two cars seemed to allign during the course on Beemers.

Second, and more importantly, is the use of a brush used for electricity on the top of the car. This is the first time I've seen a B&M invert use this. The Flyers use this brush to activate a motor that locks the cars in the flying position. I wonder if B&M is switching the restraint locks to the fluid motion type Intamin uses.

^Are you looking in picture 8 when you are talking about the brush? I guess I am not seeing them.
Don't feel bad Swoosh....I don't see it either.

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
I looked all over that picture for it. At first I thought that he was thinking the connector tabs for the wheel covers were the brushes, but then again there are those "magnets" there on the outside of the train which he might have thought were brushes... I don't know.

I am referring to this picture:

The brush isn't really much of a brush at all, that's just the name for it. It is the metallic object on the left side that has three strips.

You can see the similar setup on Wicked Twister's trains:

The three "pegs" make contact with a bar that drops down in the station. The power allows the harnesses to be unlocked.

Now I see what you are referring to. Interesting. Does Silver Bullet use this type of restraint release?

In this photo, we can see that Silver Bullet does have the copper "Bus Bars" on top of the cars. So the actual locking mechanism is probably the same as it always has been on B&M's (The traditional "click" into the lowest position), but it looks like at some point B&M swiched over from the mechanical unlocking of the harnessess to electrical unlocking of the harnessess. *** Edited 2/17/2006 4:28:44 AM UTC by Fun***
