Concerts/Six Flags

It seems that this year more then ever Six Flags parks are bringing more and more recording artists to their parks. I was just wondering who you've all seen at these parks recently or would like to see?

They brough Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton to SFWoA this summer which I was really happy about.

I'd like to see them bring Ozzfest to WoA! That'd be sooooo totally awesome.

I heard somewhere that SFNE cannot have concerts because of everyone complaining about traffic.. Is that true or just another rumor?

We were at Fiesta Texas when Sugar Ray was playing.

Last Mon. (a week ago) there was a pop concert at SFNE. Given the crowd I wouldn't be surprised if it were Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton, but I actually don't know who it was.

AC?, RB?, MF?, DD?, PR? Who can keep track of it all?

Dave Matthews Band is playing at Darien Lake. I forgot the date though...It's sometime soon!

Ozzfest this year blows the big one, most of the bands this year don't belong there. I'd say last years line up was the best, there is only a few bands worth seeing this year.

SFDL hosts lots of major concerts considering they have a nice amplitheater...

I wish they would get a band in nearly every week like they did in the 80's. When I was working at SFStL in 1983 they actually got a lot of current bands, not just older ones. I think my highlight that year was Cheap Trick.

Generic, isn't it?

Sfa has christian concerts and crap like that.

Crap in my opinion.

Papercut, are you saying that the christain way of life is crap? If so, I'd call that flaming. Oh that's right flames would fit right in...

If I had to guess, I'd think he means Christian music is crap. That's no fault of the relgion mind you (I loosely subscribe to Christian beliefs), it's just that the artists themselves pretty much suck. I mean the last one I saw on MTV was Stryper in the 80's, and I don't even have to address the quality issue there!

not all christain music is great, but he doesn't need to call it crap. I'm not offended or anything, if that's his opinion great, but I was just saying I didn't appreciate christain music being called crap. Sorry for the trouble.

Two Christian rock bands hit the big time semi-recently... Creed and P.O.D.

Decent enough bands.... But would you have to pay a concert fee and a park enterance fee? Man, that would get dengerous on the pocketbook...

Live on the edge and remember the Twist of Fate.

My only thought was "Is Sugar Ray any better?"

Until I see Prince, Res, The Roots, Anita Baker, The Boston Pops, or Madonna at the parks, I'll call it all crap. :)

I'm goning to see STYX and REO Speedwagon at SFGADV on 7/5/02 and they have some good shows coming this summer. Yes, blinkboy 14 SFNE does have concerts check out there website for a complete listing .

I saw T0yA! at Six Flags Marine World.

Jeff, you need to broaden your musical horizons, and I mean that in a gentle fashion. It's obvious that you, and several other people on this site aren't aware of what contemporary christian music sounds like. It wasn't until my friend started playing me some of his favorite bands that I understood how good these bands can be. The days of "Cum Bay Ya (Hooked on Phonics did not work for me) My Lord" are long gone. Some names you might not have know were Christian or are Christian leaning:
POD
Jars of Clay
Amy Grant
DC Talk
The Newsboys
Slayer (ok, that was a joke)

The headliner at SFA was called Audio Adrenaline (audioa.com). Right now, I'm streaming their audio in the background while typing this message. If someone didn't tell you they were Christian, you would have no way of knowing.

Yeah, Intamin Fan is right. You wouldn't think it, but some of the "Christian Bands" rock! In the late 90's I started getting tired of what I perceived to be crappy mainstream music, so I searched for alternatives and found Jars of Clay and dc Talk over in the Christian music world. Their albums are some of the best in my collection.

Audio Adrenaline (playing at SFA) isn't as good as POD, Jars of Clay, dc Talk, or Newsboys, but they're pretty decent.
