Coke enters into 10-year deal with Universal parks

Posted | Contributed by Lorrie

Coca-Cola said Tuesday it has entered into a 10-year marketing partnership with Universal Parks and Resorts, securing Coke's designation as Universal theme parks' official soft drink. The new agreement expands that to include Minute Maid as the parks' official juice.

I love coke and so I am glad coke joined with universal rather then pepsi

Well thank God for this. I was worried sick that Universal wouldn't have an "official beverage."

As long as they have Mello Yello, I'll be happy. Most restaurants just have Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite. Thank God for Burger King and Applebee's.

Coke is really getting the amusement/themepark market.

I like coke better so I am very happy.

I thought that was very funny. Know that you posted that it kinda of is a stupid news article but it's still news about the amusement industry.

Boooooooo! :(

Pepsi, Dew, Code Red, etc. etc. etc. Coke can't compete with Pepsi's variety.

At least we can get Pepsi at Cedar Fair and Kennywood Entertainment parks. (and Knoebel's!)

If I recall correctly, KBF is a Coca Cola park, so not all Cedar Fairs are Pepsi. That could be a prior agreement before KBF became a CF property; I don't know.

I'm old, so I like Coca Cola better (none of this new fangled "Coke" for me) but what do I know.

I dont wanna drink Coke in a theme park!!!!

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield. Check it out.

Oddly enough, just as Universal changes, Knotts changes to Pepsi. It was rumored a few months ago, and it has come into the park just the other day. Currently you can get coke and pepsi 50 feet away from one another, since I guess they need time to change products. I think the CDR and the rest of the marketplace could remain coke for awhile, just a guess.

So yes, Cedar Fair will be all pepsi in a few days.

Also, coke works so well on some of those things because its just more carbonated than Pepsi. Thats also why it explodes more easily than Pepsi. The only other difference is Pepsi has a lemon/citrus taste, while coke has more spices.

Wow I didnt know that about Knott's!! I love Pepsi over Coke...That'll be coo for Knotts

Well me personally, I like Coke over Pepsi. I think that this is a good deal that Universal has made. I'll be looking forward to having a Coke at Universal.

So Cal Coasters...

My Health teacher last year used a demonstration of pepsi dissolving nails to try to scare us from drinking pop because of its acidic capabilities. Not surprisingly, he failed to mention the fact that our stomachs contain gastric acids as potent as hydrochloric acid... making the effect of pop negligible.

So Cal-

Any form of pop has these properties. Like I said, the acidity of it is not an issue compared to the acid already present in your system.

jono....

I gotcha

Yeah, but the sugar and acid aren't good for your teeth. But if you brush after drinking soda pop, and have lots of calcium, you should have no problem at all drinking soda. any rumors about the diet sodas?
They are full of chemicals... thats all I know about Diet Sodas
