Just checked the long range weather for Dorney for the first time. For now it looks like it won't be QUITE as hot as the previous few days, but thunderstorms are predicted.
How's it looking for some of the other parks?

Cedar Point's forecast has been jumping around 90, with a "RealFeel" of 99 when I checked today. Also some spots of rain have been in and out of the forecast.
I'm blown away with what I've been able to raise, and admittedly a large chunk of it was my anonymous friend and his employer matching, but I've also had a good number of 10's and 25's. I'm hoping a few from last year are just holding out for the home stretch.
Since RavenAir can't go this time, I think I'm going to steal his idea of marking my lap count on my shirt. :)

Hmmmm. I always have trouble keeping keeping track of my laps when marathoning. That's a pretty good idea..although it'd be easier on a white or light colored tee..not my usual style. But hey, maybe I'll change it up for a good cause. My custom-made Pope-On-a-Coaster t-shirt is white, and the sleeves are available...Hmmm (again)

He marked it on the Coasting for Kids shirts we got in the morning. Last year's shirts had printing all over the front, so he had to have someone else mark the tally on the back.

I remember reading some posts on here indicating that some folks either received their shirts later or never received them at all. Yes?

I'm a little frustrated the way things stalled out, which is why I'm doing the club membership incentive this week. I really want to get to a grand on my total!

Hell, I'd be happy with $500 - I mean, I understand why things stalled, but I don't at the same time.
edit: Bryan - I plan on taking time out to go ride STR and possibly Snake River and Thunder Canyon that day. Maybe some other rides, too. Hope you can take a break from lap counting to join me :).
^ I've actually yet to ride StR, because I typically don't go to the park on hot days. :) Sounds like a good time to give it a shot!

In skimming last year's thread, it looks like Kings Island didn't have shirts for some reason and they were to be mailed. At CP we got them in the morning when we checked in.

Awesome. The ride is great fun, IMO. We'll start planning getting up there too. I'm gonna bring my camera this year and take some time out for event photos.
Honestly, I'm pretty pumped about Magnum in the morning, though I know I can't do a million rides on that.
Someone gave me $2 yesterday in passing for the cause. I figure, if everyone I knew gave me $2 - know what I mean!? It all adds up. I figure it's not about the amount, it's about giving.
Can we turn in cash the day of? I was gonna use my bank account to put the money on the site, then keep the cash. Electronic switcheroo.

I asked Kara that question. She said cash will be accepted at registration, but recommended attaching the bills to a piece of paper with the name and address of the donor so they can be thanked properly in writing later.
But I suppose your method will work just as well.
It's all for the good, no matter the logistics.

While trying to find creative and goofy ways to drum up donations, I found some videos of the Partridge Family at KI. Everyone knows the Brady Bunch episode, but I never saw this one.
Racer with no seatdividers, etc. and those wonderful old buzz bars. A little slice of coaster heaven!

note the 4 car train operation :)
The promised t-shirts were Kings Islands responsibility. The day of the event, Don said that they were not ordered yet, and that everyone would have to come by and pick them up later. A few of us told him that we didn't live right down the road, and he said that he would mail us ours.
I waited a long, long time for that shirt. When I mentioned in an email to Kara last month that I still had not received my t-shirt yet, she said that KI didn't order any. She said to remedy that problem, Give Kids The World was in charge of the shirts this year. Don't expect that problem to occur this year.
You all have fun at the events. Because of my employment situation, I still haven't been to any big parks this year. I did recently two jobs at the same time, one full-time and one part-time. If I had got these jobs just a week or two earlier, I would have been able to go.
But the good news is that I will finally be going to a park very soon. I still haven't figured out where yet.

^I have tried contacting Kara with questions 2x and still no answer :(
I'm glad to hear we will be getting tees, though!
If you can make it Travis, we will pick up that air mattress and make a slumber party outta it. It looks like it may storm that day, anyway.
What are your questions?
The shirts are sweet. Can't wait to score them.

I wanted to know if it's ok to bring snacks and or pop/sandwiches. And If I can bring my Cedar Point 99cent refill bottle ;)
You'll probably have to leave the food and drinks in the car. they did provide a water cooler with ice last year for the riders.

^But thats why I wanted a more official answer, Travis :)
My friend Beth sure needs some help, she is only up to a single donation of $5 from Carl:

Well of course Kara didn't answer those questions. She's not the park, let alone 11 parks. :) I would tend to guess that normal park rules apply. Can't speak for KI, but CP really took care of us.
