coasters that does not go with the park's vibe

There are a few coasters out there that just don't or didn't seem to fit in with the atmosphere of the park. For instance I always thought that steel phantom (old one, haven't been on the new version)never went well with the rest of the traditional KW and its classic woodies. It seemed out of place and distubed the quaint atmoshpere of the park. It was too obtrusive. any ways I am sure there are more but I can't remember them at this moment.

Psyclone, SFMM... In a park full of prototypes and record-breakers, you just gotta ask... "What were they thinking?!"

Here I come again...;)  I still like Psyclone, and you aren't gonna make me agree with you Zero G!  HA...........  Okay...topic at hand.  Hmmm...  I say the same thing about Apollo's Chariot all the time.  I love the ride...absolutely love it.  Mega air, and sweet powerful end, but I hate the fact that it just sticks out like a sore thumb at such a beautiful park.  Considering all the other coasters are in the woods, this really grates on me.  Just whinin':)

I read sethman's title, and while this pitiful dial-up was turning the page, I was thinking "I'll surprise 'em with the old SP"...beaten to the punch is one thing, but I got KO'd by the ref!  I like all the other answers, even if I too was able to enjoy Psyclone (it was a while ago)...but then again SFMM's Ninja didn't break any records, did it?  (It was as much fun for me as BBW).  I guess PR, fits in better with KW's theme, but it does leave the park without inversions....(which BTW is where Knoebels would be sans Whirlwind)...

I believe Ninja was the first Suspended coaster west of the Mississippi or something like that.

A funny note about SP. When coming towards pittsburgh on 76 there are several billboards advertising pittsburgh in general which have a pic of steel phantom exiting a corkscrew. I've always wondered if that ever left tourists confused... Of course you'd have to convince me that tourists ever come to our fair city, which might be a stretch anyway
I don't consider Ninja to fit into SFOG at all... it's hard for me to explain why, it just seems so... arbitrary?  Who knows.  I just don't think it fits in.
Ninja was and still is the fastest suspended coaster in the US at 55mph, followed closely by PKI Top Gun @ 51mph.

Just my 2 cents..... Psyclone does indeed suck!!! But I believe that they built it with the intentions of catering to the "classic" coaster lovers by offering a replica of the most famous classic woodie ever. IMO, They failed.

I think CP's Disaster Transport is out of place. I love the ride, but its so far away from anything else, and its enclosure looks like a big storage bin, not an attraction. If it wasnt on the map it wouldnt even have riders. Hopefully Wicked Twister being in that vicinity might bolster riders.

LoadedG, yeah I agree with you on Disaster Transport.  Actually, I was going to say that, but I buckled at the last minute.  The only reason?  It is very different, and a lot of people stay away from it, so it always seems to be a walkon.

(I still like Psyclone!)  ;)

If they would do something with the exterior, so that people knew that it was actually and attraction, I'd bet it would do better. Quick note: too many trims along the ride. If they're gonna build a toboggan type ride, it shouldnt slow till the end of the ride (ie needs much more tubing).

(I just dont undertand how ANYBODY could actually LIKE Psyclone. It is one of only TWO rides (Flashback)that I wont EVER ride again. Ive given it too many second chances only to be disappointed :( )

Definately Disaster Transport... I think Avalanche Run fit in good, but, make it (or any other ride) look like a non-descript warehouse, and it just doesn't fit...

S:ROS at SFDL because all the other coasters are under 125 feet. At this thing just sticks into the sky compared to the other rides. I remember before SF took over that it was a nice small amusement park. Next year I am driving down the highway and right next to me I see this huge red monster coming to the side of the road. I love this ride but it does fir in strangly at this park. Also none of the other rides have a specific theme like this does, and because it is right next to the wooden coaster Predator it doesn't have the same kind of theme as the rest of that area. For example, Daily Planet is about 30 feet away from a Old Country Pizza kind of place that is supposed to remind you of a "wild west" kind of thing.

Ahh, but I believe I heard somewhere that CP is considering "modifications" to DT...considering the placement of WT, I thought it might be cool to get rid of the dark-ride feel, and remove the tops of the enclosed "track" where it sticks out of the building....give riders a view of WT.  Of course it would have to be a TOTAL revision to the theme of DT...

This could be the cheesiest thing ever but .. You had mentioned retheming DT to create a cohesive kind of area with Wicked Twister.  Maybe they either remove or not the building (if not, certainly to be rethemed and restyled, completely) and the new theme of DT could be something weather related.  But then again, can someone please tell me how any of CP's coasters are really themed together?  I understand how some of the names came to be, but they seem to be entirely independent of each other.  Now, I absolutely love CP, so I don't mind this.  However, thinking about it, if they themed 2 coasters to be together, I don't think even that would go with the entire CP-level theming.
Just some stream-of-conscious or whatever.

I just think DT could use one big outdoor object that would let visitors know that it is an Attraction. Also, quit complaining about DT, it wasn't meant to satisfy coaster enthusiasts. It's there for the kids who haven't tried a roller coaster yet. When I was little, we took bi-yearly trips to Cedar Point. And I remember the first time I rode DT - IT WAS INCREDIBLE! I could have been no more than 7 or 8 but it was Great! So Leave Poor DT alone, I dont see you picking on Jr. Gemini

The one that struck me odd was the Double Loop at SFWoA. Not the fact of it's presence, but it's color scheme. Since when is bright purple and yellow an Old West type theme?

For me, Mulholland Madness does not feel right in DCA. It's a fun little ride and I know it's suppose to be themed to the crazy LA freeways, but a simple wild mouse with cardboard theming doesn't seem elaborate enough for a Disney park.

While it isn't open yet and I have yet to see it in person, DWeaver's assessment of Mulholland Madness got me thinking about the new rides going in at Disney's Animal Kingdom- the Triceratop Spin (Zamperla Roto Jet-style ride) and Primeval Whirl (pair of Reverchon Crazy Mice coasters).  They both look WAY out of place at such a beautiful theme park, and the "cardboard cutouts" that line the course of the coasters look very cheap.  I realize that's the whole point of the "Dino-Rama" theme, but they do look a tad bit out of place in a park that specializes in beautiful landscaping.

SFWoA's Double Loop was painted yellow and purple at the end of the 1999 season.  There were rumors floating around the park that the ride was going to get a Batman/Joker theme when the park converted to the Six Flags brand name.  Instead, we got Batman Knight Flight and Double Loop remained as it was... I think they may have painted it so the ride stood out against its new CCI neighbor, the Villain.
