Coasters and Grades

If I do say so my self, I kicked butt on all my standardized tests... too bad that isn't enough to get you in a good college.

"I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but here's my theory.

Most people who are fanatic about certain things (say, coasters, Star Trek, whatever), tend to be the introverted, "nerdy" type.  And those types tend to get better grades.  Whereas people who have general interests, or interests that many people have (say, sports) tend to be more extroverted, i.e., their strength is social and not academic.

I realize this is incredibly generalized and stereotyped, and obviously there are many exceptions.... but I am including myself in the introverted category. ;)

Well... I used to get all A's and B's.. that is... until this year, and this marking period...heh...

I also agree with Den's theory, majority, who are involved in sports etc. tend to get lower grades and less 'nerdy'... My 2 big addictions are DDR [Dance Dance Revolution] + Coasters, however, I am now on a school sports team and my grades are dramatically falling....

yea for the most part dens theory is correct but if you see a blonde would you say she is dumb without knowing her rather than by looking at her

My school doesn't use letters...HAHA. For taking above honors classes, I get grades the equivalent of an "A". My school is number one in the state of New Jersey. The class I do the worst in is Geometry, just because my teacher takes off points if she doesn't like the way your numbers are shaped or if she makes a mistake making the test. Don't ask!

ok, I must be one of the bad examples.  I get C's and D's, but only because I am too lazy to do the work.  I spend too much time online.
I get all A's and B's with the exception of the C that a I am currently getting in Algebra II.  As for the theory of most coaster ethusiaists not having general intrests, I love the Charlotte Hornets and I played basketball until the end of last season.  I'm also a fairly new participant in BMX bike riding and I like it almost as much as coasters.
well on the topic of not having other interests.  Not true at all.  I am very involved in my school activities, and other sports in general.  I am on my school swim team, thinking about trying out for the volleyball team.  Plus I am involved in Technical Theatre, I build the sets for the plays and I move them around during the play.  Plus I love to bowl.  And I love to work on my truck.  And obviously I love coasters.

I join MillenniumForceX and ST chick among those that have perfect averages. Along with being 1st in my class, I'm in the chess club (nationally ranked in competitons), I like messing with computers, live on a farm, and like sports. I'm not an introvert, and I love listening to metal as well as some techno. Am I a nerd or geek? You decide.

I'd have to agree that many coaster enthusiasts are rather intelligent. I think this may be because some people want to do something exciting that gives them that "high" without doing anything illegal and getting themselves in trouble.

My friends are basicly the kids at the top of the class as well, and they all love coasters as well...just not to the extent I do. And there are kids in the middle that like them as well. I think that many enthusiasts just took it to the next level by joining a boared like this and talking about the specifics of the rides and the experiences of the rides themselves.

Straight A's here... and no, I'm no geek.  Just got genius genes :)   I guess you could call me a coaster 'geek' though, but that's true of most here.  Also most people i've talked to on aim are intelligent people and are fun to talk to.  my 2 cents

I get A's and B's (mostly 89's) and whenever I get an 89 or under, my dad gets on my back!  My brother is a nerd and he gets straight A's.  I have it hard.  Last year, I got my Six Flags pass take away from me for a month! Harsh!  Really Harsh!

All A's for me, although I have been slipping a tid bit lately. I dont think I'm a geek at all, since all I have to do is take a look at some of the other kids (or should I say, "cases") in my school. Honors Classes, the whole shebang, I just like feeling good about myself and having a good time rather than cleanching (sp) my teeth and studying 24/7...

I know how that goes, my brother graduated last year, and he got straight A's in all his classes all 4 years of high school.  Me, I am lucky to get A's.  The only A's I get are in gym classes.

I used to get A's and B's but that was before coasters. I can still get good grades if I want to, but I'm really lazy and I cant focus in school. These are my main problems...

1.I hate taking notes, so I draw coasters or attempt to free-hand a perfect Millennium Force logo on my paper all period.

2.Whenever I have a class using computers and internet access...Im not working lol, Im posting here.

Instead of studying up in my room, Im up there ready me RollerCoaster! mag or a coaster book.

Hopefully I can get them good enough to be aloud to use my CP season pass this summer.

Me, I don't think about coasters 24/7, so I study more to get my dad off my back.  This last marking period, I got my first A in science in 4 years.  (I think I bombed the exam, but that's another story)  I might get off the wanted list for a bit, but I'm still in deep crap.

Hehe, yeah...and my peers don't understand why I hate the snow and the cold. Going out at 6:00 a.m. before school to feed the livestock when it's below freezing and dark is always fun...yeah! :(
