I also heard that Dorney Park will be holding Coaster Madness on the date that Coastermania is normally held at CP. The DP event has been the last Friday in June, but the ACE CoasterCon is during that week this year, so DP moved their event for 2004.

Wait for the date to be set in stone, and then plan your trip accordingly. Don't assume something is going to happen on a certain date.
Even *that* isn't for certain. I remember back in 2001 SFWoA had announced that they were going to open for the season on a certain Friday...then a few weeks later changed their minds and pushed it back to Saturday. I had already booked a flight and couldnt change it. So I just sat in the hotel all day Friday watching Janet Jackson specials on VH1 (at least the day wasnt a *total* loss ;))

From what I have heard, the tentative date for Coastermania 2004 is Friday, August 27th. Please don't start making plans for this event until the actual flyer if available, probably by Janurary. -Sean
I only hope it is on that day.
My idea for reasons why this date was moved
1. The new ride of the year should be running well by then. (The last 2 Coastermainias had the big new ride down, CP doesn't want it to happen a 3rd year in a row)
2. The Park should be less crowded. (durring this time of year people a more worried about getting back to school)
3. They're simply too many things going on in early June. (Look through this thread for reasons)
On the Bright side I hope to have CM near my Birthday (The 26th of August). I am usally out of town then I should plan for Sandusky, OH.

I have only been to 3 Coastermania events so I don't know much about the history. If the park keeps the date of September 18th, would this be the first Coastermania held on a Saturday?

Also, for anyone planning on attending CoasterCon this year, the flyer is hopefully going to be out a little earlier than normal, they're gonna try to get it out by January. *** Edited 12/7/2003 1:23:58 AM UTC by SWIMDEJ***
CP's getting a flyer?!?!? ;)
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
Great, you've done it now. Here come the rumors. lol. ;)

Oh and i was really "mad" when Cedar Point "stole" the impulse idea from SFWoA. I mean Intimin had nothing to do with it or anything. SFwoa was the only one to ever have an impulse before cedar point right?? You have to remember that I too have the capasity to go running to Screamscape like an idiot too. But anyway it doesn't matter because Cedar Point doesn't seem to be getting any new coasters this year anyway.

ok lets not get the cart ahead of the horse here. Cedar Point does not have, nor are they getting, a flying Dutchman in the park. They are sending out a flyer(piece of paper) to get people to visit the park.
Again, thanks a bunch for clearing that up (and for the second time now!). I'm sure there were a lot of people who really thought there was a flying coaster coming to CP.

Doesn't that deserve a rolling of the eyes?
