CoasterMania 2004

Last year there were roughly 2000 people (I think?) that attended Coastermania. Spread out through the whole park it hardly would make a difference.

Lines during ERT can sometimes get pretty long. Don't think of it as "exclusive ride time" think of it as "extended ride time."

Since this is the only time the event has been held in September (it's normally the first weekend of June) nobody really knows what the turnout is going to be. That, added to the fact that a lot of the folks who attend Coastermania have already taken their one trip to the park this year for ACE CoasterCon it's really a toss up.

Thanks for the info folks - here's hopin' the hurricane keeps the crowds away!

Yea last year's CM wasn't that great a deal as far as I was concerned. I was already exhausted by the time the morning ERT started, the lines were longer during ERT than the rest of the day that I experienced, and we didn't even stick around for the night ERT as it rained late in the day and my gf and I did the "big 7" each twice and a WT marathon all in the last couple of hours - sure beat out any late night ERT as far as we were concerned. Best part was the Freeways for Dragster to use later in the year! ;)

I usually get up at 3:30 am for work and this is the one time this will pay off. I will be ready for an 0530am start. I'm taking my daughter out of school early Friday and flying to Cleveland. I need to get on TTD! I'm going to try Friday night first. I will also pack my rain gear/googles to ride MF its like an insurance policy. I pysched about my first CM!

CP hosts a power boat show in the marina side of the main parking lot every September. It just happens to be the same weekend as Coastermania. This is not new info as it's been on the Dragster "Calendar of Events" sign all season. *** Edited 9/15/2004 12:43:39 PM UTC by ShiveringTim***

CPFan has a pretty good idea.
I'd say Friday night at Chet and Matt's would be ideal. I am really in the mood for their pizza, anyway.

Call me crazy, but I liked last year's CM. Even though it really wasn't "ERT" per-say, I still had a really good times. Just don't expect small crowds.

And yes Michael Darling there were over 2000 people last year...so much for ERT!

I definitely wouldn't sweat the 5am check-in. Last year they let folks inside the park about a half-hour before the rope dropped by the carousel (6:30am I think was when the rope dropped -- maybe it was 6am). So even if you were an early riser and found yourself at the front of the rope it ultimately became a sprint to MF at that point so quick feet are better than an early alarm clock.

Because it was on a Friday in early June the lines for ERT were actually longer than during the day in some cases. Even at night, when you figured a good chunk of the CM crowd would have tired out and moved on I think I waited 30-45 minutes for WT.

I'm guessing the boat show is going to make Famous Dave's pretty crowded out by the marina. That's a shame. I really wanted to check that out.

Early morning.......ugh, but I will do it for Dragster.

:-D

That sucks Paris, I walked on WT last year at night, as a matter of fact, I walked on 3 times in a row.

For anyone going to CM, keep an eye out for me, I will have a white, ACE 25th anniversery shirt on. And I will be with a guy with a Duke hat on. *** Edited 9/15/2004 4:27:36 PM UTC by DragsterForce*** *** Edited 9/15/2004 4:28:42 PM UTC by DragsterForce***

For anyone concerned I decided to check with the park. I spoke directly to Janice. She confirmed WT is OUT for ERT due to some needed eletrical work. They will most likely throw in another coaster (I didn't ask which one). Also the boat show takes place in their parking lot and should pose no issues with the park. Always better to go to the source than speculate. Now if we can just get Ivan the Terrible to blow away.
does anyone know how many trains they will be running on TTD?

As many as are working at that time.
Four. Yeah, that sounds like a good answer.
None, since it's CoasterMania and nothing works during CoasterMania ;)

LOL! Just do what I do.....*expect* Dragster to be down. If it's up and running, it will be a nice surprise!

Forget Coastermania, Bonus Weekends themselves provide better opportunities for getting a ton of rides in. Doubt you'll find 10 minute TTD waits and walk ons for pretty much everything else. Hopefully the crowd will stick to Saturday and not spread into Friday and Sunday, the real ERT days.

Ok I have a few questions. First I was wondering if you can take a person that is not in a coaster group have them as your guest. Also I want to know whats going to happen I have seen the coaster mania form but are we going to have like a meeting were we can ask question? I remember see last year they had a meeting and people asked questions like what happend to the tires on Dragster and things like that. Also there were questions on dragster like when they will put on the yellow train. Are we going to have that kind of meeting were we can ask question?

Went on Dragster 37 times

Hey Carstenka,

Yes, the valid club member can bring along 1 guest. I didn't see any mention of a Question & Answer session this year. That was kinda cool last year - especially with the Dragster being new.

I was holding out as long as possible trying to see what the weather would be like. It says that it is supposed to be sunny in the 70's.

I just went ahead and made the reservations. Breakers Express still had rooms available, so I have a feeling that it won't be that crowded. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there.
