CoasterBuzz turns ten!

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

CoasterBuzz was launched on January 30, 2000, and has since been visited millions of times by roller coaster enthusiasts from around the world. Here's a brief look at its evolution.

Visit the CoasterBuzz X page.

Congratulations! CB is officially a tweener.

You have been a coaster geek for 10 years now, congratulations! Me, I've only been one for four, ha!

Ask not what you can do for a coaster, but what a coaster can do for you.

Ten years eh? I checked , I've been here for nine and a half of them. It doesn't seem that long ago. Congrats.

I think it might be interesting to pull the first 100 sign-ups, to see how many are still around.

Jeff said: I learned early on that size was less critical than quality of conversation (which we've struggled with).

Yeah, ummm, sorry about that... ;)

Happy 'X' birthday! (Whatever did happen to CoasterBuzz anyway?) :)

I dunno, I heard about seven years ago that it wouldn't last.

Too many pancakes or something.

Coasterbuzz has definitely been the online community that I really feel a part of. I took a break for a little while one winter until I saw the announcements for Deja Vu and X. I've been on almost daily (when I'm around a computer) since. Thanks Jeff and here's to 10 more!

Congratulations on building and maintaining such a successful site, Jeff! I am glad to be a(n incredibly small) part of it.

When it comes to quality forums, I don't think there is any comparison. There is no other website that I, even remotely, look forward to checking up on more than CoasterBuzz. Very few posts here are worth going unread, IMO.

Seeing that I haven't been here nearly as long as many others, and am probably the youngest active member on these boards, I appreciate that no one ever (attempts to) make me feel out-of-place or unwelcome. Generally, it seems that everyone and everything in this community is at peace. As a site-owner, that is something to really be proud of, I believe.

Nevertheless, I am thankful that I have at least been here long enough to know that...this is all just water under the tree. :)

TEN YEARS OF COASTERBUZZ????

Time well spent!

Congrats to those who built it, those who moderate it, and most of all to those who contribute to it.

May it forvever serve its purpose as well at has for the first ten years.

Daniel, it wasn't always this way. I can remember a few years ago when some of us really got tough in our arguing and pulled out all the stops, me included sometimes.

I suppose that, wrong or right in our opinions, we respect other opinions a little more, or at least respect that others have the right to express them.

You don't act like a lot of young teens who have come and gone on this site. You seem to have good head on your shoulders; better than mine anyways. :)

LK, et al. - I never saw y'all as "disturbing the peace." Just having an opinion and being passionate about it.

Now, pancakes guy (what was his name?) in his 4 different identities, the Peanut Gallery, and the Minivan of Justice...that was disturbing the peace.

Yeah there were definitely some strong characters over the years. CPnut, Intaminfan, 2Hostyl, Impulsive, Coasterdude318....remember those people? they could start some rukkus! LOL.

Congrats on a pretty impressive achievement considering the internet world. CB has been a nice diversion and I appreciated it more once I was removed from the industry.

Kudos.

It will be interesting to see, in another 10 years, what park operators are still in business and in what form.

Delan, you missed the only person that I am grateful is gone. Extremely grateful. I will never repeat his name, ever.

On a separate though, I met CPnut in '06 when I was working at Cedar Point. He managed to get himself fired for causing trouble at another park, not owned by CF. He let his ego get in the way of reason. It's sad, really, because he was a nice enough guy.

Isn't 2Hostyl still around? I could have sworn that I saw a post from him recently. 2Hostyl is one of the good guys, imho.

Once I changed my name to LK, I have been trying really hard to keep my cool and be as pleasant as possible.

Also who remembers Mike 131? I hope he managed to find a park that let him be "free of shirts."

Who else still has their yellow CB t-shirt? It was the predecessor to the CoasterBuzz Club.

I honestly have no idea how I found this site, but I'm glad I did. Thanks for 10 years of wasting way too much of my time! ;)

Hi

Here's to anyone that remembers the CoasterBuzz thong. Cheers :)

(No, I never bought one, but I recall Jeff mentioning at some point someone *did*.)

The thong is still available. Click the "store" link at right.

I still have a virgin yellow CB shirt. I also have an unworn original GTTP shirt. What a hassle what stuff was, having it printed and distributed myself and all.

Jeff - Editor - CoasterBuzz.com - My Blog

I think I still have the yellow CB shirt, unless it ended up in the "fiance doesn't approve" pile.

10 years already -- wow. I've been here basically from the beginning -- Jeff probably knows for sure if I've been in from the very start (think so, but brain is a bit fuzzy). I'm not the most ACTIVE poster out there, but I've been involved in the online coaster community in some form since the creation of the newsgroup rec.roller-coaster (which actually still exists but is a very pale shadow of its former self). I've been a member of several different communities, but this is the one I've stuck with, for good reasons.

Congrats, Jeff!

WOW!!! Has it been that long already? I'm happy to be a part of a site that started essentially as a spin-off of GTTP evolve into what it is today.

Congrats and here's to another ten!
