Coasterbuzz Pop-Up Ads

why are there so many of these damn annoying things? On a usual visit to this great site, i'll have about 12 different boxes from stupid advertisements. if you HAVE TO become a member of the CoasterBuzz Club to not thave them, thats garbage. Its like me punching someone in the arm until they do what i say...For the scenario i'm in, i think i'll keep the punching in the arm, thanks..$20 aint worth it in my honest opinion, not to be degrading to this web site in all means..This is one of the first sites i check everyday, but i'll live with the ads instead of paying $20 to live without them

Teemu, do what I do, download a Popup killer. I haven't seen a Coasterbuzz pop-up since Jan 3 2002

Ugh.......How many times do we have to go through this! Bills, bills, bills. It cost money to run this site, get over it.

So many coasters, so little vacation time....

Unless you are a member of coasterbuzz club you have no right to complain...

Is it really that hard to right-click on the window and click close? The pop-ups on this site are small and not very distracting. Do you complain when you have to watch commercials on TV?

Get a pop up ad killer if it bothers you so much. Its not exactly brain surgery.

LOL!!!! :) *rotflmao*

Well, do you really just expect Jeff to sit back and not recover any losses for this site? I can only imagine that CoasterBuzz Club only goes so far in terms of paying for tha' bills. All things considered, I'd say it's more than justified that CoasterBuzz has pop-ups.

Do you complain when to see previews before a movie? Do you complain about the amount of billboards on the side of a road? Do you complain about commercials on tv? Get used to it and quit b**ching, this is a business like any other.

If you can't live with the popups, don't visit the site anymore.

You never saw 12 pop-ups because I don't run that many campaigns. Generally I won't allow more than three, which means that by the time you click from the home page to your first topic, you've seen all the pop-ups you'll see unless you launch a new browser.

As has been said over and over... this site doesn't pay for itself. Deal with the ads, join the club, or just go away. Honestly, my wife and I can't see a movie for $20 with refreshments, and that lasts two hours. If $20 for a year of what you get here isn't worth it, I have to question your sense of value.

And if you need to see the math again regarding expenses...

12 popups...no way. Maybe three at the most. Can't wait untill my membership kicks in though. It's no big deal to close the popups anyway. Why do people think running a web site doesn't cost anything? Besides the money, think about the time investment. Jeff's software is easy to use too.
Jeff, I just got a pop up ad for free condems. Did you let that advertisement thru or is someone invading your site?

Oh no, an advertisement for free condoms! We wouldn't want our eyes exposed to something that helps prevents STD's!

Come on, its not like its an ad for porn.

Long live the pop-up killer!!!!!!!!
Am I just lucky? Ever since DoubleClick dumped CoasterBuzz and the site switched over to Burst! ads, I have not seen a single pop-up. Banner ads, yes. The skyscraper thingy, yes. But no pop-ups.

Anyway...

Bandwidth is expensive, folks. By clicking on the ads, you're doing your part to keep this site online. If you don't think it takes a big chunk of change to host a popular website, go ahead and try it yourself. I didn't have ads at PKIGuide.com for the first year, but now I have to. Otherwise it would go away. And I don't get within a fraction of the hits this site does.

If you really like the site, try clicking THROUGH the ads every once in a while. Some of these ad campains pay by the click.

in response to the 'im sure you dont complain about commercials on tv, or previews before a movie', i expect that from those two, because every tv channel and every movie both have previews and commercials (actually, movies have commercials too, whats up with that??) but i rarely come upon a site that has a number of pop-up ads. I go to Espn.com everyday, and i never have had another screen pop up on me.. Im sure that costs money to put up just like you said..

Teemu,

Maybe because ESPN is part of a large commercial enterprise (Disney) and in the hundreds of millions of dollars they have in their budgets, they allocate money to pay for their bandwidth.

Last time I checked, Jeff is not a multi-billion dollar company, so he has to make concessions as to how he can support this site. If running ads that cause pop-up to appear is so bad, drop $20 in the mail and join the club.

Some people make $20 seem like sooooooo much money. Here's an idea...every day you visit coasterbuzz, put a quarter in a bank. When you have come to the site on eighty different days (dealing with those mean and nasty pop-ups), you will have $20 to send for your membership. Or, here's another calculation - have one less can of soda a day (I'm talking vending machines here), at 65 cents a can, you'd have the $20 in 31 days....
