CoasterBuzz Member Cards!?

How about each "active" member of CoasterBuzz be sent a libray-type card showing they are a member and current number of posts. Mabey we could get discounts or ERT with these...who knows!

If FoF got that great of a makeover than why can't I?
But how would you define "active"? 1 post each week, each day, each hour? And current number of posts would change rapidly for a lot of people, meaning the card would be outdated before you'd ever receive it! But it's a cute idea.

If it was based on # of posts, there would be a lot of "noise" by people trying to reach a certain #.

I like the card idea, though.

How about just how long you've been a member!

I don't know if Jeff would like mailing 3,000 cards out. Maybe he could email an attachment for the member to print and laminate?

Or maybe you could just make it yourself...

Cut & Paste the logo from the front page and make it up. Post a picture of it and maybe others will follow suit.

I'd rather Jeff spend more time with other things than to be making cards up.

Nifty idea, though.

Could you describe the ruckus?

If we ever launch a real club, we'll consider it. The problem is, we'd have to come up with a lot more than a card to get people to join!

I think the post count number on the card is pretty dumb, since many of us post at least a message a day and it would already be outdated by the time it reaches us. Unless CB DOES do an official club, we would have no reason to get ERT with some "card."

how about a membership fee for the club. it could be a printable card. and the money could go to improve coasterbuzz or set up an event or something to that nature

Why not start a real club Jeff? Use it as a way to help defray the costs of the site. Is this a viable alternative?

Sure, I could get tons of money that way, but without demonstrating some kind of real benefit to members, there's no point. We'd have to figure out ERT events and such.

You never know.

Well, I for one think this idea has definite potential. Most parks (that I know of) that have ERT or special events only specify "coaster club members" - that is, if Coasterbuzz was deemed an official coaster club, along the lines of ACE or First Drop, members (with their snazzy new laminated cards) would be eligible for events such as SRM or Coastermania or whatever.

For whatever reason, although my wife and I travel extensively to ride and are hard-core coaster lovers, I have yet to join an "official" club (most likely because I am not a "join up" type-guy); but I would certainly make an exception to enroll in a Coasterbuzz club.

but without demonstrating some kind of real benefit to members, there's no point.

Maybe allow special forum access, have some games, etc? Anyone else want to give a few ideas. Just being on coasterbuzz in enough to make me want to pay (reminds me, I'd better order the shirt!)

Cool you like my Idea!

WE have already had this idea, and it almost happened.

Will it happen ?
Hey i've been on Titan 3 times too ! *** This post was edited by TITAN_FAN_13 on 5/20/2001. ***
Will it happen? Read the topic before asking. It's an obvious no. Sure bigkirby's sugestion sounds ok, but how many people would want to pay to use sections of a site? If it was a pay-to-use site, then yes, it would happen (maybe), but it isn't, and I don't think Jeff would make sections pay-to-use, either all or none. So, no, it probably won't happen (at least any time soon.)

V2, Deja Vu... how can it be better? Add Viper! Oh, wait. It's already there!
