Why is this now?

As much as I appreciate what you are doing and why you are doing it, it's still unfair to those who follow the rules and don't spam or use AOLese. I know that this is to stop all the flaming and spamming, but I find it totally bullcrap that now I'm going to have to pay $20 frickin' dollars to upload on this site. No thanks. You have the power to kick all those spamming n00bs off. Why not do that? Why cause the ones who follow the rules pain?

Because hosting a site isn't free and the mods don't have time to waste kicking all of the 13 year old AOLers off the site. Makes sense to me.

ImmelMatt: You don't have to do anything. No one is making you pay $20 for anything. If you don't want to do it, you simply don't. It's not an emotional issue.

However, it's not just as simple as "kicking people off" either. One, the moderators and I don't have the time. Two, as others have pointed out, putting up a couple of bucks introduces a certain amount of accountability as well to require you to adhere to the community rules or face the prospect of losing your money.

Hmmm... I'm an AOL'er, but I'm not 13 either. It's the only DSL or highband service I could find. I kind of resent that comment ImmelMatt. Cough up the 20$ bucks and have fun downloading. Geez It's coming up on the off season and I'll tell you, I get bored in the off season. I'm digging in my pocket as I write this. Heck I had Attbi for the last two years and I couldn't get it when I moved, so I had to settle for second best. I'm getting used to AOL but, boy I miss my cable connection. By the way, I didn't spend my 20$ when my membership expired because I had other things that came up, that needed my attention like work and trying to keep my truck running til I get a new set of wheels. I was lucky I got to go to CP, IB and SFGAM this year. Jeff I applaud you!

You're kidding right. I just glanced over the last two weeks uploads and there's just a shade under 200 files (around 14 per day). Seems like plenty to me. I'm sure there were twice that many, if not more, on most days this summer.

He wasn't referring to AOL users in general, but to AOL-ese. The incoherent ramblings of the immature. It's not tied to AOL, but that's where a majority of it comes from, because AOL is so easy to set up.

Ok im 18 and can actually complete a proper sentence. I have posted appropriately and have met some good guys on this site eg RCTandy , Lord Gonchar , Omar, coolare, G-force Bob , Ross McColl, and Kesten just to name a few.

Now I cant even reply to my own coaster uploads just because of the pay system. Im still posting coasters on Coasters2k, if anyone knows a better site to post on that would be appreciated.

With all due respect to Jeff... I just hope this isn't a "the more I take away, the more people will pay" type of thing.

I for one don't have the $ to support $20 a year for this site, which was a fun, free community when I joined.

If I support this site, I should also support Ace, and have a Six Flags and CP season pass, and make it to all the Cbuzz and Ace events in my region to make the memberships worthwhile. How many hundreds are we talking now?

You can't look at membership at Cbuzz as just $20 a year because it's part of a hobby that really adds up. And to say that it's not an emotional issue if you take away one privledge, then another, then another, that is just un-true for those who enjoy the fun free community of a few years ago.

now If you'll excuse me I have 4 ads to close, a track record on another site to maintain, and a crap load of RCT files to shuffle to another site. ;)
