CoasterBuzz Club member completes 1,000 laps on Shivering Timbers

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Kara Dhuse, a 17-year old from Roosevelt Park, MI, rode Shivering Timbers, the mile-long wooden roller coaster at Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon, for the 1,000th time on Sept. 15. It was the amusement park's last day for the 2002 season.

Congrats on the 1000 laps! I wonder how many coaster rides total I have...probably less than 400!

As long as I don't experience another Drummer Boy ride with her......

Congrats again you crazy Michigander!

Wow, a talking sig, complete with a "shout out"...you really ARE a celeb now Kara....Living THAT close to Timbers, it isn't hard to see how 1,000 could add up...ALL in fun!

bill, hoping to get a ride with you at next SRM! (even if it's "only" Raven or Legend, lol)

I'm proud to say that I've had the pleasure of riding with Kara on many of her laps this year on ST. Including her final few of the 2002 season. I jabbed at her many times about catching up/passing her this year, but I knew that would never happen. :) I like to think that I was the fuel sometimes that pushed her numbers up, but I know for her riding the Timbers was all about pure love for the ride. Congrats ST Chick on such a wonderful accomplishment on your favorite wooden coaster.

Oh and btw...I didn't know MIA was opening in February this year.. ;) Seems to me opening day is about 33 weeks away. lol

Haha! You are correct, sir..33 weeks! I used a website to compute all of that because I was lazy, and it turns out the date was set to May 23 at 11:00 in 2002, not 2003. Man, I slip deeper into witdrawl.

Matt, you deserve a big congrats as well! You definitely got your fair share of Timbers this summer. It was great riding with you countless times...we are so doing a Timbers 100 next summer! Oh, expect an email next week...we are organizing a shin dig with the almighty Timbers Crew. It'll be great.

Rollergator- I'll definitely be at SRM. That'll be my first week being a HS graduate..WOO HOO!

Tommy- Yes, I will be getting a portion of my senior photos with my baby! The park is letting my photographer and I go in and get photos by/on various pieces of track (escorted, of course). I can't wait!

Man, is it next season yet?

Ditto to that! I graduate on May 24th and on May 30th and 31st while everyone else is at Myrtle Beach drinking day and night, I will (hopefully) be at Holiday World riding Raven and Legend day and night :) Congrats on the big 1,000!
