Coaster that need lap bars instead of OTSR

Like I said earlier, why did they put OTSR on Revolution at the Mountain?

It's Better now with the new restraints. Still a little rough, but more manageable than it used to be. Anyone else notice?
By the way, no laws in CA about OTSR's and inversions. Its like a magnum sinking thing at this point.

Because Six Flags is a corporate beast only concerned with turning as much of a profit as possible so they can build more crap-ass rides. Revolution would be better w/out collars, Colossus would be better with out the brakes, Flashback would be better if.... what I don't understand is why they need both lap bars and collars on the Great American Revolution. Magic Mountain murders their rides and it really is a shame. Plus you have to admit that people who live near and around LA are stupid and would probably think they would fall out if it werent for the collars. Again just one more reason to go to knotts.

"I know it's probably not possible, but Vekoma SLC's could use some kind of different restraint system. A little headbanging usually doesn't bother me, but I have trouble enjoying SLC's because it can be so bad. You've gotta love seeing everybody's red ears after a ride on Serial Thriller ;)."

LOL its so true how on sertan coasters everyone gets off with colie flower ear lol

How do these things make Six Flags more profitable?

Batman and Robin: The Chiller are getting lapbars. That will make the experience so much better, because you have a better view. I hear people complain about headbanging, and I never feel it. Lapbars will be an improvement.

Nitro: The Most Explosive Coaster on the Planet explodes at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2001.
Viper at Great Adventure could use some lapbars.

I also dont see how spending money installing OTSR's on Revolution turns SFMM a profit.

It seems to me that is an obvious SAFETY PRECAUTION. According to NEWTON's LAW of Gravity, as well as coaster designers, OTSR are not necessary on any ride to keep the passengers from falling out, as long as the train doesnt deviate from its design. Some coasters at times fail to gain sufficient speed due to passenger weight distribution, temperature, and weather conditions and MAY get stuck on a loop. If so, without the OTSR you WOULD fall out. Because of all the trim brakes added to Revoluton, the speed of the loop has been decreased and the odd of stalling on the loop is GREATER, not that it may ever actually happen.

My other car is a Giovanola!
Even if you got stuck in a loop or corkscrew a lap bar would still keep you in. Lap bars on looping coasters aren't very far up so it would still keep you secure.
Chiller @ Great Adventure. Luckily this ride isgetting lap bars. One train (Robin) is getting them installed now, and the other will get them during the off season.

Every coaster in the world, with the exception of inverts could benefit from lap bars. As far as the inverts go, there is usually so many G's that you would stay put anyway, but unfortunately there is no acceptable way to "safely" strap riders in. Burn 'em all....bring back seatbelts and chains...LOL!

nasai, you hit it square on the head - remove ALL otsr's!

It would be awesome if all B&M coasters had lap bars. Imagine how different the experience would be. I'm not saying it would ever happen, but that would be scary as heck on a floorless coaster without an otsr, or on an invert.

Spread your wings and fly away!! X-Flight '01
Rollies Coaster never heard of it its a kiddie ride at wildwood (morey's pier) It has otsr's??

One word NITRO.
All sit-down coasters should be lap bar restraints only!

One I'd really like to see it on is the Ninja at SFoG. With all the head-choppers it would become an amazing ride. It would also make SFoG lap bar heaven. All their sit-down looping coasters would only have lap restraints.

FoF has lapbars, and a corkscrew, and it does perfectly, no hurting movement...
The Chiller and Ninja at SFOG.
I will say it again, why did they put OTSR on Revolution at the Mountain? I really agree with SyntaxError, we would become lapbar heaven if they got rid of the ninja's otsr. Although, I am kinda thankful for them, it's kept me from hitting my friends many times. But it would be interesting with the headchoppers. What would be really cool, lapbars on all of the free fall rides. That would be interesting.
