Coaster Clones of Paramount

'Gator, your breaking my 'art. The Vortex at PGA is a favorite, and if you ride it in the first row with your hands out in front of you the entire way, it's good fun. For me, I'll take it over Chang and Mantis any day. Those two are good also and may be bigger and faster, but throw rougher in there too. Only RR at MM is a better stand-up to me.
Sounds like I need to get to Georgia...

Oh, over Chang and Mantis, huh Robbob? ;)

You're not impressing me by comparing a lackluster coaster to two crappier coasters...that's just "damning the ride with (MORE) faint praise"...;)

RR is in fact a better ride (for now, anyway, ride it before it turns INTO Chang and/or Mantis).

GA Scorcher is similar in track length to the Vortices, but it just "does the same things, only SO much better"...:)

I'll agree with 'gator that Scorcher is definitely the best of the B&M standups (discounting RR, since I've never been to the left coast). But I still prefer the Togos. Why? The restraints are fabulous. Plus, they actually have airtime! :)
Vortex @ PC has some nice airtime on the drop thats kinda over the station. Come to think of it.........pretty much all of PCar coasters have some ammount of airtime!!

There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!

^Consider yourself lucky, none of PGA's coasters have any airtime.
If you consider a rough hill causeing Tekno to Vomit on the break run, yeah, it has air time...;)

Yes, Bill. I would take PGA's Vortex over Chang and Mantis. Like I said, Vortex has less elements, but at least my teeth were intact when I arrived back at the station (not to mention my...well...unmentionables). ;)

If they're *unmentionable*, then don't MENTION them...

Robbob is the greatest, he know how much I love to tease...(or is it live to tease?)...;)

Back to Paramount's clones, I was AMAZED at the difference last year between PCar's wood and PKD's. Thunder Road had 10x the air of Rebel Yell, and was STILL a smoother ride. The Hurlers had an even BIGGER difference. Someone at PCar KNOWS how to care for wood, and someone at PKD should go serve an *apprenticeship* under him/her/them...;)

How long ago did you ride PGA's Vortex Robocoaster? Just curious, used to be smooth and fun when it first opened. Didn't last long though, quickly became as rough and brutal a headbanger as any Vekoma Hang N' Bang. And with such a short stunted brief layout, not even worth the pain and headache in my book. Especially with the best stand up only a few hours away.

Must admit, it has been a while. Hmmm. It was in Stealth's first year, so I guess it was 2000. Yeah, I could see it going to pot (that's for 'gator;)) in that time frame. Too bad; sounds like now it's killer on the joints...
