Coaster Chat

P.S
Love the new site
The problem with a Chat is that they can get out of control. No webmaster wants to be responcible for a chat room. They are just too unmoderated and not necessary.

Chat rooms are chaotic and of little value in my opinion. I don't want to pay for the bandwidth or the software. There's not much in the way of revenue generation to recover the cost, either.

speaking of "revenue generation", Jeff if you don't mind me asking do you make money of these sites? I don't care cause I love em but it seemed like a good question.

So far, I've only lost money, but if you're asking if the sites generate revenue, yes. Last year I came out about $200 in the hole. This year is looking better because I don't have to buy software, etc.

What kind of "freeking" software did you buy Jeff?! Sure you didn't get it at "Rip-Off City Discount Stores"? ;) But really, what did you spend over 200 bucks on? Your host can't cost more than 360 a year can it?

My total expenses last year were over $2,000. Photoshop and Office (buy.com, cheapest out there) were large components of that, and hosting was nearly half of that. Also consider the Cedar Point season pass I gave away, office expenses, T-shirts, etc. And that doesn't even count the books and computer hardware (which I couldn't really deduct since I use them for other things).

Oh, I see. It all adds up!

BTW: If you look at Danimation.Com, you will see why Jeff doesn't have a chat. Theirs is out of control all the time and always down. Personally, it's no fun when everyone acts stupid. Forums are better because you can control the content. Remember, this is a family site.
