Dave, you didn't KNOW???!!?? He's your BROTHER for God's sake....;)

chris, sorry to hear that your friend had to endure such an encounter...:)

bill, bringing the level of the buzz down a notch...or two...maybe more

I remember in the late 80's when the American Eagle at SFGAm ran with seat belts in addition to lap bars. Just before the final helix on the blue train, the lap bar released. Thankfully, the seat belt caught me! That experience just made that coaster all the more creepy.

Did they install new trains in the early 90's or just remove the belts and add newer lap bars?

On Alpengeist, I don't know how, but about 2/3 up the lift hill I found out that the restraints did not lock! I cltuched those bars with my life! The station operator was so apologetic about his crew's mistake that he gave me a repeat ride in the second row to show his remorse. I didn't place mediate blame on the crew, it could hake been the ride's failure or just the fact that I was the only one in the 7th row.

From a ride jock perspective: MCW. Mine is the first post. Don't try this at home.

i had a close call on Raven at HW.Man i got massivie air time!!!!i was practically standing up
only terrifying moment i can remember on an amusement ride was on SFNE's "Time Warp" (Vekoma "Frog Hopper"). Can't remember where i was sitting, but my restraint seemed tight until we were halfway upside-down and it clicked out a notch. I held on for dear life for the rest of that ride! (even though i knew the seatbelt would have saved me if the restraint failed completely).

I've since ridden the ride many times though, and it's one of my favorite flats at SFNE.

S:ROS; SFNE. Ride it, and you'll understand.

sfgadvman i just remembered that the same thing happend to me years ago, towards the top of the hill my lap bar came up......luckily i pushed it back down and it stayed

That'd be a Vekoma Air Jumper.

Frog Hoppers are made by S&S Power.

What do I Listen-To?
I waited for 7.5 hours through four tornado warnings and all I have to show for it is this lousy kiddie coaster credit.

Don't worry, gator, he lived to tell the tale. You guys shared a front-seat CE ride, I think.
One time in 2002 while working SFOG's GASM, the phone rang and I was RIGHT NEXT TO IT. Now that's a "close call."

Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all night folks. ;)

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

GP, while I must admit that was pretty funny- I'd stick to my day job... ;)

Dave: I saw the video but still couldn't see exactly what happened. Can you expound a little on the situation?

------------------
Thats right, we got the speed ya need, the rock and roll for your soul, we're gonna pick ya up, spin ya round, drop ya down, one more time, here we go! One more blast of the super-fast for your @ss!

As the ride was slowing (well before it stopped) the operator leaped out of the doghouse and actually climbed over two unit pole sweeps and one main sweep before the ride stopped. I couldn't believe he did it. Then I couldn't believe I actually caught it on tape.

I've seen a lot worse (one of my favorites was the operator on a Moser Spring Ride (think Frog Hopper) who was standing directly beneath the tub while the ride was operating) but that's the one I actually caught on video. Pity the quality wasn't any better.

Well at Cedar Point, my sister's friend was riding on the drop tower, and when they got to the top, waiting to drop, he found out that the restraint hadn't locked, and he lifted it all the way up and slammed it down 2-4 times and it finally locked about a second before they dropped, kind of scary.

Why is it that I find this so hard to believe?
