Change of user names

How about a feature to change your user name but still keep all of your rollercoaster stats? ie, keep number of posts, etc. Know what I mean?

I could do that, but I kind of like the accountability attached to user names. People on Usenet change their names almost daily and you can never tell who they really are.

Yes, I agree there. What about granting like a set number of changes and having the former username on the info page of that person. Like allow one other change of names.

At the moment, any changes like that would be way down the priority list. I've got stuff I want to change now that I don't have time to do, so I have to choose my tasks carefully.

Right now my top priority is getting POP Forums out the door as a retail product (the forums you're using now).

Sweet! I went to the website before. I'm looking for something like these forums. Nothing has caught my eye. Do you know of any servers that you can use CGI/post method using html forums? I can't even find those.

POP Forums is designed to run on WindowsNT/Windows2000 servers. Some of these include www.crystaltech.com and www.interland.com. It is much faster than any kind of CGI forums out there (most notably, UBB) because it's backed by a database and doesn't have to wade through thousands of text files. It's fairly easy to install, and should be ready by the end of the week. There is a free version that lacks most of the cool features (search, screened registration, forum categories, post editing and moving, etc.) but is still fairly powerful.

I realize you said this was way down on your list, but please keep it on your list. I'm really sorry I didn't choose more of a "coaster" name instead of my usual e-mail name & really would like a new one. Is there even anyway to start completely over -- like delete the old registration and then re-register (yes, I'll tell people who I am/was)?

Yes, you can delete you account by clicking "edit/delete" from the home page (when you're logged in), then check the delete box and press submit.
