change of heart?

I remember back when Cedar point announced wicked twister damn near all the feedback on it was harsh. No one like the idea at all. I look at the forums here and on GTTP now and see everyone all pumped up to ride the thing and they can't wait for openning day. What's the deal? Did you have a change of heart, or did all the people who didn't like just quit talkin about it?

No, everyone at the beginning was expecting Cedar Point to come up wit ha huge come back to SFMM's trio, and they got all hyped up about something new coming and then found out that it was only an impulse. Only an impulse is not a real phrase in my vocabulary, because an impulse is a beautiful example of how far today's techonology has gone with extreme thrill and stagering elements. Now most people have calmed back down and realized that this is a great addition to Cedar Point's line up. I just wish that coaster enthusiasts will stop focusing their park's advancement on a pointless rilvalry that magic couldn't even end.
couldn't agree more, This pointless SFMM vs. CP thing has got to go. with me living in Ohio I really don't give a damn how many coasters California has, and I'm sure some of them feel the same way

I think a lot of people had themselves psyched up that CP was going to build a 400 foot coaster, or build 4 coasters at once, or something else equally unrealistic. Thye were of course disappointed when CP did something realistic and improved their coaster mix by adding an impulse.

I don't think the Cedar Point vs. Magic Mountain is really all about which has the best rides but who can boast the most coasters you know? Its one of those, "My park is better than your park" even though neither will lose business to the other. Even though people say its stupid, you know you like to say, "My home park is the best and number 1 in the world" as stupid as that is.

As for Wicked Twister, yeah I was disappointed. First because I was expecting a TA2K and second I found out it was a single impulse instead of a duel impulse. Now I am pumped to ride it because I have never been in one before.

I just think about SFMM and CP as America's Twin Towers, sorry bad example, I still feel like they're there ..........

Just think about the US being one big park with a Eastern and Western Captial. Besides, Cedar Point is America's Rollercoast and Magic Mountain is America's Xtreme Park. It seems like both parks are heading in different directions and you don't have to side with one. The parks are there 365 days a year and you're free to go to any of them. That's right, you can go to the park for free.......... plus the park and transaction fees

Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm still not excited one bit about Wicked Twister. Until CP gets a new woodie, I doubt I'll be too thrilled at any additions they get. Unless they get a B&M flyer. I must admit, I'm interested in that, but not a Vekoma flyer or 4-D...been there done that; not for me. Just two days until my homepark opens for the season!

Matt. you are not the only one. WT does not excite me either. I still think it is going to be a capacity nightmare. A medium size CCI on the beach would have been a much better decision in my opinion. Or, a dual Arrowbatic. Or, a B&M flyer. Or, a wet coaster. Or............

I am planning on bypassing the whole Oceana midway when I go in July. At least the other lines will be shorter.

What about the rest of Cedar Point? That's one of 15 coasters, and about 15 of 364 acrres. You still got a whole lot to do at Cedcar Point. Hopefully it'll make Millenium Force's lines a little shorter but probably just with a slight difference.

If Cedar Point isn't expecting any real growth over last year's numbers, which seems to be the case, then Wicked Twister can only help, not hurt, capacity. I think the best effect of WT will be the effect it has on MF's line. Hopefully it will have maybe half the effect that MF had on Magnum's line.

Doesn't it seem as though morons always have the caps lock on?
i still find WT to be nothing special, figuring it is missing my favorite part of the impulse, the hold brake at the top of the straight spike. CP is still claiming they have the most, lie...As for SFMM v-s CP, i d think that that SFMM has won, they have the collection that beats CP with an ugly stick. The only way i'll go to CP multiple times is if they decide to add a TA2k or a 4D, because those are the only types of rides that could make that park better.

HurricaneGeauga- Just in case

Sigh. This is depressing.

Once again, CP and SFMM are not in competition. They are 3,000 miles apart.

Even if they were across the street, it'd be possible to enjoy both and not have a favorite. It'd be possible for one not to have "won" or have an advantage over the other.

Its like people STILL want to talk about SFMM vs. CP every chance they get before a mod closes the thread.

I guess its just easy to forget sometimes.

The reason for WT's sudden upsurge in interest is that now we know what the 2002 coasters will be (i.e., slim pickings).

Personally, I still don't like WT as a decision for the park but I will leave it at that, It's done, It's built and it's running so those who may enjoy it, More power to them.

Americana (Now called The great americana amusement park at Lesourdsville Lake) is opening in 2002. Indivdual visits are very improtant to the parks survival.

I'll have to side with matt, jim, and chuck here. I still think of WT as "ho-hum" at best. But seeing as though I *really* have no intention of visiting Cedar Point this year, I have nothing to say in either defence or disapproval of that ride (other than I still think the lines will be outlandish :))

I think it's a good addition to Cedar Point. It adds a launched coaster to their line up, it doesn't take up much room and it will ad life to that dead end of the park. (The back of frontier town could use some life to it also)

No doubt...It has come up so much I am tired of putting my opinion on here.. Ok, ONE MORE TIME

IMO, WT was a poor call on CP's part. I think it will be a guest relations nightmare from the start. Lines will be long, as any new CP ride's lines are during their inaugural season. I think they should have went with a RnRC type themed indoor launcher with around 5-6 inversions. That ride would have helped capacity tremendously. But alas, CP did not ask for my opinion.

If you dont want to stand in line for WT, do what I plan on doing... riding it during ERT time at Coaster Mania :)

I personally am ALL for any reduction in the lines for The Force (even though it's not my favorite coaster anywhere, it IS my fav at CP, Raptor a close second). I liked Maggie, MS, and Mantis more a few years ago when they ran faster/ smoother, but how many parks in Florida have even FIVE coasters total....NONE! So I'll ride WT during ERT, at least once, but even then I expect only one or two spins...and then on to other ERT goodies, like perhaps Blue Streak..... Did I mention it'll be our first CP "event"? Man June is gonna ROCK...:)
