Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom's Chang roller coaster, a B&M stand-up, is being removed for water park expansion. It will be relocated.

Normally, I would say the waterpark route is the way to go, but Splashin' Safari is only an hour or so away. Do they really think they can compete? Maybe they are going to try a more scaled down approach?

WTF...

Seriously, this is stupid. Looks like SFKK is going to be headed the GL route.

What's next, Twins and Mile High Falls demolition for more waterpark?

Maybe they will try an install some coasters that every other park doesn't already have. ;)

I heard the rumor a couple of weeks ago but I didn't want to believe. Very interesting move.

With Serial Thriller going to LaRonde and Chang possibly heading to SFGAm, does that mean that possibly Six Flags is going to possibly promote the rides at each of the parks as doubles or something in that nature? (If that makes sense)

I must say that Chang was the best coast at KK that I rode.

Hello, Holiday World? It's me, Mamoosh.

I'm doing well, thanks for asking. And how are--

Yes, I heard it too!

Uh huh, it did sound like, "Uncle!"

Direction? Kinda hard to tell from where I am but I'd guess it was from the East, I think...about an hour or so away from you.

Yes, yes, good talking to you too! Enjoy the boost in attendance next year. See you at HoliWood Nights!

Ha and people said I was stupid a couple weeks ago saying that this ride was going to be transferred to great adventure..... it still is a live rumor to me

Chang will NOT go to SFGAm because they already have a B&M standup... no park needs 2

^ Yeah, but with the AstroWorld SLC looking like it's going into La Ronde, things are really aloof. I guess reasoning and deducting no longer works. :)

In addition, nobody thought it was weird when Six Flags Great America decided to built two inverted shuttle coasters in 2001.

^ I know but I just dont see it fitting at SFGam- it would do better business for the one in maryland or st. louis - there was a report that st. louis's park attendence was way up this year and adding chang would really boost up the market for the park. SFGA has plenty of space for the ride and it is a type of coaster missing from the lineup... SFA needs something badly... SFNE is also a possible home because nothing new has been added there for a while and they have some extra room for expansion.... and actually i cant believe I'm saying this... watch out because it might end of at great escape (the park that is in such a tourist trap, a park that gets all older coasters, they could market chang very well)

^Most rumors have Chang going to SFGAm. The question is will they be able to pull off a conversion of trains to floorless or sitdown.

This is what I think is going to happen.

1. SFGAm will get Chang
2. The station, lifthill, and first loop will occupy the go-kart and SSA area.
3. The back half of the ride will extend into the parking lot parallel with the waterpark.
4. New trains will be put on as either a standard sitdown (like Kumba) or a floorless.
5. It will be renamed and themed to Bizarro.
6. The go-karts will be moved to the old SWF location and SSA building will be demolished.
7. The 2 existing Chang standup trains will be put on Iron Wolf and the old trains from IW will be scrapped.

That is my opinion on it and I am sticking with it. :)

I wish they'd have announced before the closure, I'd have tried to run down to ride it before it shut down. I really liked the ride, now it's likely going to be 8 hours away. :(

That's a pretty good plan there, Chitown. I would love to see that happen. If that coaster ran 3 floorless trains, then think of the capacity on it! Goodness!

I agree. I think that explanation makes the most sense. I love the Chang layout and I think it would be a winner for Great America.

I just don't understand the lack of information from the park. Sure, enthusiasts have heard the rumors for weeks, but I would think the locals would like to have been given the chance to ride one more time. Look how many people turned out for the last days of Big Bad Wolf.

Comparing Big Bad Wolf and Chang is like comparing Apples and Monkey Brains. Yeah there are people out there who like Monkey Brains. But, most people would rather have an apple. :)

Here is another clue that this might just be happening. The alien/military exhibit that has been in the Space Shuttle America area is now going to be in Yukon Territory for Fright Fest.

Aliens have invaded Six Flags Great America at this free walk through scare area. Located in Yukon Territory.
