Celebration City announces new stuff for 2004

Three new shops - Paper Moon (which has dip-your-own candles, incense, and stuff like that); Houdini (magic shop, which will have demonstrations); and a shop that will feature airbrushed t-shirts and henna tattoos.

Kick's Grill is being expanded (that's the one in the big Route 66 shop)

There will be a new magic show Sean-Paul & Julianne with Frankie the Monkey.

Two new games - baseball toss and the GIANT crane game.

And finally they are adding a Chaos and a Flying Circus. I don't know the location of the rides yet -- but I head the Chaos might be going over by the Wildcat.

All for now, hopefully be able to get some construction shots later on once they start (as of right now they aren't doing much)

Later -Dho

Good additions for CC.....cool place, a few extra attraction should help thin out the lines when it gets busy after SDC closes for the night.

Is Andrew Dice Clay coming for the opening of the Flying Circus? Sure hope not, LOL...

I thought he was only Andrew Clay now. LOL!

Whichever....if it's going to be called Flying Circus, I'd rather have John Cleese...:)

I *did* ride Fjord Fjarlane though, how could I resist a ride with such a cool njame...;)

Hey are you making fun of random "j"s in names?

We Scandinavian people have feelings too. ;)

Dustijn, my last name has SIX consonants IN A ROW.....I'm ALLOWED to make fun of weird names, since all the other fingers are pointing back at ME...:)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Well OK, as long as it is an "equal" making fun of. ;)

So what type of ride is the Flying Circus going to be? Im not familaiar with the WOF reference.

Spam, spam spam wonderful spam

jp...picture a larger version of a ride similar to Knoebels' Downdraft (and way less nauseating, LOL)....might be similar to the Huss Jump at SFGadv, not sure since I've never seen that operating...;)

WoF official website says: Fjord Fjarlane,
A high speed circular ride with 14 arms that raise and lower while the ride spins and produces strong acceleration and forces.

Couldn't readily find pics anywhere online...although I'm pretty sure I have one SOMEWHERE....

I found a picture of Fjord Fjarlane.

Now, what do I win? :)
What everyone else wins... a cookie. ;)

Ok folks, I apologize. It appears that The Flying Circus will not be like the ride that I stated above. Word from the park says that the ride will swing up to 80ft and the ride I mentioned only goes up to 26ft (at most). Also at further investigation. Fjord Fjarlane is called a "Big Top" - got my "circus rides" confused.

Now on to WHAT the heck this ride will be. I did some looking and found that Waagner Biro makes a ride called "Magic Arms" that comes in a "Flying Circus" model. Now if my conversion from metric to standard version is correct then it should go up to about 80ft. IF this is the ride (and I'm going to check in on this) then this is quite the addition to CC.

I didn't see this topic earlier. Thanks Dukies for pointing this out.

This is great news. I have a chance to go down to the park tomorrow after I'm done with school. So I was thinking about going down and taking some digital pictures and sending them into you Dustijn. Do you think it would be worth it.

As for that 'rideindex' site, that link isn't workin out for me. Oh well.

Where did you find this info, have they updated their site?

And by the way. Less than 50 days until the "Spring Break" opening of Celebration City!!!!!!!

Fjord is a Huss Swingaround.

As for the Magic Arms, that will be an interesting addition to CC. I know that Barth has been looking to unload it for some time, so I am sure he would be glad to have found an owner. In addition, I believe WB only built one of these. TrickTrack can add more info., but my friends in Germany told me that Magic Arms is one of those rides that looks a lot more exciting than it rides.

Wow, that looks like one CRAZY ride. Looks to be a great addition to CC. So does it invert? Will I actually be able to go upside down in CC for once?!

What IS it about the name "Magic Arms" that sounds so much more *inviting* than the name "Flying Circus". Don't get me wrong, I loved Monty Python....but c'mon, how can you beat MAGIC....arms....hehehe.

Both great additions for CC, and if the Flying Circus is "less exciting", then at least that'll balance out some of their other QUITE intense rides....rounding out the menu, so to speak...;)

Bill if you do go down let me know - I'm not sure if it would be worth it or not. Last time I was down there they were clearing land near the outer fence to the east of the park -- not sure if that was CC's doing or what. If you do take pictures, send them to thirtytwoproductions@hotmail.com (but make sure they aren't toooooo big in size otherwise it won't work).

Ok, just got back. I really could not see much. I snuck through the make-shift exit (West of the entrance with the sign) and drove through gravel parking lot, got all the way to the front gate. Then some security guys saw me, and I asked if I could take some pictures, and they said sure as long as I dont wander into the park. So that was pretty nice of them.

As for the rides, the way that CC is built, you really could not see too much. I saw where they are keeping some of the old Branson USA rides, and I think I saw the Chaos ride, but I could be wrong. It was sitting just south of the entry gate. Actually, now that I think about it, it looked more like a parachute ride. The one with the metal parachutes that rotate around the center. Then in the parking lot, I think I saw the trains for "Jackrabbit." They were under tarps, so I couldn't really tell.

The Ozark Wildcat was beautiful as always. I will send my pictures into DHollon and hopefully he will post them on his site.

Until next time.

I was looking at it, and it really looks like the "Flying Circus" will be a Chance Aviator. It sounds a lot similar to what CC was describing.

Interactive rider controls: climb or dive

16 two-passenger self loading planes

Eye-catching 100-foot-tall telescoping tower

Neon lighting on tower and sweeps

Oh well, here's the link to the "Aviator" website: http://www.rides.com/aviator_home.html
