Cedar Point's Woodies are Good!

Darren, I think you miss my point (and so do a lot of enthusiasts). The average park patron doesn't visit a park like we do. He or she goes to a park maybe once or twice a year. Depending on crowds, they may ride something once, maybe twice. They don't have time to figure out how to ride a coaster and not get hurt.

And, I'm not calling any of you who defend MS as being not rough crazy, but if the lapbar fits...

If you have to figure out how to ride a coaster to be comfortable, then that's not a coaster worth riding.

Well just had to add my opinion on this one.  Having rode MS quite a bit this past season I would say I only had two rides that were actually painful.  The brakes were not used that much toward the end of the season which did improve the first half of the ride.  Overall I sat towards the front of the train but on woodies I do that anyway.  True its not the number one wood available but on a late summer night its still a pretty fun ride.

Mean Streak Rules!
2001 Total MS Count 353
I sat towards the front on Mean Streak ONCE, closing Saturday 2000. That's the last time I'll EVER ride up there. The ride was *so* boring, it felt like it didnt *do* anything. I tend to always sit near, if not in the very, back. I dont think MS is rough at all (heck Wildcat @ HersheyPark is rougher), it's just a poor layout that doesnt do much. However, when GregLeg and I rode in the back during CoasterMania, there was one *somewhat suprising* drop in the second half that made me giggle.

Seems like Mean Streak would be an ideal test candidate to see if Intamin can really reprofile an existing large woodie with their new style track system.

The track system wouldn't fix the problem though... the problem is structural.

I'd Like to see Denise Dinn from CCI  Do a reprofile on this coaster. The daughter reworking on her fathers design.  The could call it " Mean streak generations "   .   The PR could really be played up on this.   Besides I think CCI Would be only logical choice for a project like this. For a few good reasons.....

       1) Father/Daughter   Colaberation is kinda a cool idea

       2) It's CCI   ( I dont think I really have to say more )

      3)  It would be cheaper than building a whole  wooden coaster  ( Not that i'm against cp building any new coasters)

but Mean Streak Definately needs something...

I don't get how the structure is the problem. To me, it sounds like that if you leaned on it in the wrong place, the whole thing would tip over.

Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions

Not enough support under the track and everywhere else for that matter, thats where the structure is the problem.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?
I loved Blue Streak, and I liked Mean Streak. Granted, neither are the best, or the fastest, or the type of coaster you can settle in, and fall into a deep sleep. But that's why I like them. I love get beat around and such. If I wanted smooth as glass, I wouldn't be ridin.

Here's the solution to Mean Streak.  Get two big strong guys to grab each end of the track, then strrrrretch it out until it's all flat (might have to work out some knots), then push it together to form some hills, and bend it in half.  Voila, a giant out-n-back! ;)
